Iceland is still deciding but my manager reckons we’ll only be shut for a few hours… Even then I reckon it’ll be a public closing. You’ll probably be expected to be in to clean, stock take or restock the shelves all with the radio on listening to the funeral so they can claim you were closed.

Recently shops such as Iceland have closed early for major football matches. I remember in 1997 most places were closed on the morning of Princess Diana’s funeral. Anyway it’s too early to know what will happen but no matter what it will be huge event and imagine probably the biggest tv event ever around the world. One thing we can be certain of this is that Lidl will be open. They never close unless forced to. 😂 Well, you would be in for a shock, both LIDL and ALDI have announced they would be closed on 19th September Aldi and John Lewis among shops closing for Queen's funeralStores including John Lewis, Waitrose, Aldi and Lidl have said they will be shut in the UK on Monday 19 September, as a sign of respect to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her funeral.www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62879563

Much like Christmas Day

Iceland and Morrisons have now confirmed they will also be closed Monday. ASDA and CO-OP will be closed until 5pm - I am surprised they are opening considering all the other big supermarkets are closed apart from express stores opening at 5pm.
Centre Parcs rather controversially are closed for the day on Monday and expect guests to leave the parks by 10am on Monday and not return until the Tuesday.
There has been a big backlash online to this which is understandable. I guess they could have as a compromise had reduced services / facilities on the Monday but its wrong to expect guess to find and pay for hotels elsewhere.

It seems a strange decision on the face of it, but Center Parcs only appears to have check-in days on Fridays and Mondays. Presumably people on seven-day breaks can stay in their accommodation on the Monday but all facilities will be closed.

No it is closed closed on the Monday I would refuse to leave and would encourage fellow guests in the same situation to do the same. That said, I would be unlikely to be in a Center Parc in the first place - it's just not my sort of holiday.

Just watching on tv the coffin on route to Buckingham Palace from RAF Northolt. I am surprised at the amount of people stopped and parked in the outside lane of A40. I remember when Diana#s coffin came back in 1997, but do not recall people lining the streets from that far out in this way. This really is a once in a lifetime event, I don't think we would ever see something like this again.

Well Charles III realistically only has 25 max years in him, so we might depending on what he does with his relatively short reign compared to his mother.

Those lazy, greedy railway workers will once again silently doing their bit to keep the country moving in the mourning period.
In regards to GTR, they’ll be running overnight services.
- The Brighton Mainline TL service will remain as it is in terms of frequency, the service will extend from Three Bridges down to Brighton.
- Southern hourly London Victoria to Gatwick Service calling at Clapham Jct and East Croydon.
- Midland Mainline - Current level of overnight Thameslink Service.
- East Coast Mainline - Two hourly semi-fast service to Peterborough and two hourly semi fast service to Cambridge (resulting in hourly service from London King’s Cross to Stevenage and Hitchin). The vast majority of these services are 2x387 operated.
Network Rail managed stations will be open 24/7

I can't imagine public perception of railway workers will improve upon hearing this, they're not the only ones that have had a change of working pattern because of this.
