With a lot of the “fantasy” suggested changes and use xxx line or Overground services this would work well in theory but what happens when a line is suspended because of an incident as you cannot factor in delays if a relieving driver is stuck on a train. As the driver is unable to be directly traced and if they do not (or wish not) to use a personal mobile phone. As I believe you just can’t leave a bus on the highway unattended with passengers on. Discuss.

If a line is suspended Centercom (or whatever it's now called) would do a London wide broadcast where controllers should then be aware of for them to curtail most relevant buses in advance. Regarding staff travel time via the lines, when i used to do the 37 out of SW changeovers were done at Clapham Common, two stops on the Northern Line. IIRC however travelling time then was based on drivers using local buses, perhaps because of proximity from the depot. I don't remember how much time Merton gave us to get to Tooting Broadway but i didn't always use that one stop journey on the tube to get there for the changeovers.

To be honest any operator could do this. I get what you mean though. However if a changeover point is at a bus station or terminus the bus is usually left in that particular location. Camberwell Green of lately has been a location where I have noticed 185s left with hazard lights on with no driver. In addition there can be circumstances where the relief driver takes an extended break because it was cut short due to traffic. There has been an occasion where I lost all of my break due to major traffic, second bus was taken off the road until I was ready to go back out. I came off the first bus the time I should have been going back out to do the second half!

You often have a few 366s dumped in the London Road stand as well so the issue seems to be affecting Stagecoach as well.

Stagecoach would generally get the drivers to put the vehicle on the stand at London Road rather than dump the buses at the stops on London Road. Hopefully the handovers for the 366 won't be at London Road when it goes over to GAL next year
