South Esk Road (325) What on earth is an esk? Interesting. South Esk is apparently the name of a river in both Scotland and Tasmania - but I cannot find any links to Newham... Esk also appears on Scottish computer keyboards, a throwback to the SNP's failed 2014 Independence bid. We still ship these out to users north of the border. (Where Esc would be)

(Where Esc would be) I'm not sure whether to believe this... ;-) ESK in Scottish means to hiccup. It is a verb that is commonly used in the North of Scotland.www.ncesc.com/geographic-faq/what-does-esk-mean-in-scottish/

South Esk Road (325) What on earth is an esk? There used to be an ‘Esk Road’ bus stop somewhere on the 241 too.

'Dog & Partridge' - a bus stand on Edinburgh Drive, Ashford
Particularly quirky as the pub closed down 15 years ago...

The Vista on route 124 - not much of a view to be seen from here, despite the promising title. Loop Road in Chislehurst (several routes) - what loop? the bus route loop? Edgebury/Domonic Drive (and its reverse) on routes 160 and 162 - anyone else think one-word road names are a bit odd? King's Highway on routes 96 and 422 - Tom Petty vibes, anyone? The Pantiles on route 422 - so you're telling me that there are tiles on pans or something like that? (also, Emma Hignett's excited tone when announcing the stop makes it funnier, as it just draws attention to the weird name) Halt Robin Lane on route 229 - sounds like an instruction telling a small festive bird to stop! (as I typed this, I realised it could be a good cryptic crossword clue) Crittall's Corner in Sidcup (several routes) - no comment Bexleyheath/Highland Road in... well, take a guess (several routes) - the land doesn't look very high, but it's certainly a more promising view than the above-mentioned stop (take THAT, 124!) Cemetery Road, followed immediately by Plumstead Cemetery (both on routes 96 and 422) - yes, we get it, it's near a cemetery, no need to ban on about it! The military lexical field in Woolwich, especially on the 291 - see remark for the 96/422 Cemetery section and replace "cemetery" with "military base". Ulundi Road on route 386 - who or what are (the) Ulundi? Zangwill Road on route 386 - surely the last alphabetically, and what sort of a name is Zangwill anyway? Kinveachy Gardens on route 380 - a childhood favourite of mine for no particular reason. Sparta Street on routes 129 and 199 (formerly 180 and 199) - see Kinveachy Gardens. Nadine Street on routes 380 and 486 - see Kinveachy Gardens. Plumstead Road/Plumstead Station and Plumstead High Street/Plumstead Station (several routes) - take a guess where this is. Buckwheat Court on route B11 - is that the best name you could think of for an apartment block? Treewall Gardens on routes 126 and 261 - I don't think that's where trees grow out of... (also note that the two routes it serves are anagrams of each other) Maypole/Bo Peep Public House on route R7 far out in the (technically) Bromley countryside - I'm not even making this name up!
