I wonder what the range would be for it. I guess even if its the same as an electric then fact it can be re filled in mins might make it an attractive option for some routes. Spec'd to be around 250 miles compared to "...up to" 185 miles on the electric variant. It's been reported the P5/C10 electrics do around 135 in practice.

It has been confirmed by a reliable source that route 315 will run from Beddington Cross depot (BC) when it is awarded to Abellio from 1st May 2021. It will use 5 refurbished buses as its allocation.

Interesting as it's now a step closer to what's in store for Battersea (regarding other tenders) now that the 315's not going to be based there.

I'm guessing that is always 250 miles in 9 mins whereas an all electric battery may loose how much it can store over the years.

Didn't Walworth trial that exact same bus before?

Didn't Walworth trial that exact same bus before? Thought they only trialled the electric one?

The nearside view of that bus reminds me of the Optare Excel operated by Travel London (ironically now Abellio!) if anyone else remembers. The shape, window profile and shape, and probably the upward sloping livery: (Not my pic): www.flickr.com/photos/44483738@N05/5425799623/

It will be interesting to see if hydrogen can be made into a viable fuel type. I do think it does warrant further research and development though.

(Not my tweet) <tweet snipped to save unnecessary scrolling> It will be interesting to see if hydrogen can be made into a viable fuel type. I do think it does warrant further research and development though. I think there will be a big push towards getting more hydrogen buses into service, and to prove their viability as an alternative fuel source. Not only are they zero-emission at the tailpipe, the hydrogen can be produced by windpower, using electrolysis to produce hydrogen from water. They could potentially play a significant part in the UK Government's aims to cut carbon emissions greatly, particularly if the vehicles produced are attractive and can genuinely bring about modal shift (i.e. away from car use and towards buses and trains).

Just as we're on the topic, remember these! www.flickr.com/photos/michaelwadman/10428530846(not my link) For Travel London's first stint, these buses were transferred down from the West Midlands, fully blinded for the C1..until the Solos arrived.
