A chance the LTs remain and electrics never get ordered? Electrics will still be ordered regardless

A chance the LTs remain and electrics never get ordered? No as tender specifies electrics, so very unlikely tender will get changed especially as the mayor can brag along about investment in electrics and Outer London.

But in the current funding crisis TfL may want to look at changing contracts as they do not have money for such large investment into electric bus infrastructure

In fact, I hoped for a RATP retain but that is off the table...

But in the current funding crisis TfL may want to look at changing contracts as they do not have money for such large investment into electric bus infrastructure As far as I am aware the operators are still paying for electric buses and infrastructure upgrades themselves. If TfL have agreed a price and signed a contract they’d likely have to run a new tender whilst compensating both bidders by paying costs involved. Also it doesn’t say much for tendering if the losers bid, which may have been cheaper based off LTs, had no opportunity to appeal in this situation.

RATP would feel a bit hard done by in that situation if Abellio won the contract based off their offering of electrics when it was obvious that RATP would bid LTs, only for LTs to operate on the route anyway. TFL can't just switch around a contract specification just because they can save a few quid.

I'm surprised nobody has picked up on this yet, but the fan favourite batch of MMC's at BC, 8343-8347 have not been in service for over a week. All apart from 8347 had their MOT's done in November so I wonder if Abellio have decided they're not going to wait for the Croydon consultation tender results and send them off lease? I did wonder why 8822 and 8823 were out on the 433 today!

It could be a lease decision date came along, and most sensible companies would include this in an alternative vehicle tender bid, that is the bid is only valid until a day before got to inform lease company if still want a lease extension. The lease may not offer rolling extensions, might be a year extra minimum for notice period, and don’t want to be paying every month for buses whilst TfL dither about tender results.

I wonder what the contingency plan is if there is a delay in the new Hayes place opening. TF surely hasn’t room for the 111 in addition to the other routes moving in on a temporary basis ?

If the worst comes to the worst, the 267 could temporarily move to QB & I’m sure they’ll utilise GW as well Is GW not practically at capacity? The loss of the E1 and E9 is sure to have created some space. Abellio should be thankful that WS has no large-PVR routes to squeeze in somewhere. I reckon GW could take at least 2 of the WS routes, most likely in my opinion the U7 and U9 and perhaps even the U5 aswell.
