Oh my goodness the Abellio MetroCities have got that awful grumpy face that the 200 Me’s have 😭 what an absolute monstrosity. Even the demo picture a few pages back didn’t have it and looked way better than these! And it looks like they only have 20 seats, dear oh dear. Can someone explain to me why there is a priority seat in row 3 by the window, but not the adjacent seat (by the aisle), and if they wanted 4 priority seats, why is it not in row 2, but instead further back. Apart from obviously not being easiest seat to reach for those with mobility problems it just looks messy surrounded by red seats I also don’t understand why a VOR bus needs a pile of Metro newspapers blocking the luggage rack from being used, I don’t understand Abellio logic here.

To be honest I actually quite like the way they look, I'm looking forward to seeing them in service

Whilst I prefer the front on the Metroline provincial example, I think that redesigned front looks a bit better on the Metrocity than the Metrodecker. Guess I’m the only one looking forward to riding these when they go into service though I will be sad to see the temporary allocation go especially as currently due to a diversion, I now have an extra bus to Tulse Hill & Herne Hill to catch 😂 I mean they’re certainly different but honestly Optare have lost the plot imo with their new buses. Not a patch on their mid 2000s/early 2010’s buses. The front design of that bus and the 200s ME class looks like a Fish mouth.

Not sure I'd agree they've lost the plot - I don't mind how the Metrodecker looks minus the redesign and a couple of minor things (toilet rear window & small side windows at the front upstairs) which is a TfL edict rather than a Optare one and I was pleased with my two rides on OM1 (looking forward to trying an electric one at some point).

I thought I was the only one who thinks new vehicle designs look ugly especially from Opscare. You’re certainly not!! 😂 I personally like the redesigned front, might just be me.

The front design of that bus and the 200s ME class looks like a Fish mouth. Nothing entirely new under the sun, as the Versa has been described as looking like a fish. The picture from Abellio promoting new buses for routes 322 & U5 infers that both routes are gaining MetroCities. In practice route U5 is of course getting double-deckers from other builders than Switch Mobility.

How come the 267 isn’t on the MMC’s blinds despite being at the same garage as the 285? Or it might be, but I would highly doubt that since abellio has impressingly had a 100% allocation since it’s takeover. I do wonder if they’ll add the 111, 267 and 671 given that TF will have four DD routes by September plus most of their LTs should leave once the Electroliners arrive for the 111

Some of these complaints are absolute garbage, seat too big really? Would they rather sit on a seat the size of a twig? Out of the 30 odd complaints, only 5 were about the handrails which to me should have been the main focus. And for those complaining about not seeing the screens were probably the ones sitting all the way at the back of the bus. Flooring too bright? It’s bloody wooden flooring. The public amaze me sometimes.

The public amaze me sometimes. Why someone is interested or has a need to know what other think of bus types amazes me. The fact the 63 never had buses with 3 doors and two staircases suggests most of these are from professional complainers that would probably complain if buses had adverts saying the sky was blue. Not been on a 63, so can't say how seat sizes affect vision to the iBus displays, but even if I had, obstructions to view are not normally an issue for me. Likewise can't comment on the handrails, but from pictures think it is a positive. One positive over past few years for me is the glazed staircase. Makes interiors brighter, and any extra external visibility that may deter anti-social behaviour is a plus in my eyes, so should only be encouraged, rather than letting an operator gain a few extra tenners in advertising revenue.

Agree, whilst I haven’t got around to riding one yet, all the new or different things introduced on them should be a positive such as the high back seats (which are no different to buses outside of London so the complaints are pretty invalid) & removal of handrails given the seats have grips to hold onto. Like you, the only gripe is lack of glass on the staircase - think that should be specced back in again

LT174 has been completely destroyed by a fire somewhere. That’s the first LT to be written off. flic.kr/p/2nnz76b
