I think Abellio have looked at areas where there was little or no competition and expanded there. For example, what competition would Metroline have for the 207 and 427 tenders if Abellio didn't open new depots in North West London. There does seem to be some "snobbery" towards Abellio from some quarters of the bus and rail enthusiast fraternity, but I generally don't have an issue with them- they're much better than Limebourne were back in the late 90s/early 2000s when I worked for at QB I have actually grown quite fond of Abellio and like their West London operations most. Absolutely, I've got a soft spot for Abellio having worked for its forefather Limebourne when it was recovering from going into administration all those years ago

Absolutely, I've got a soft spot for Abellio having worked for its forefather Limebourne when it was recovering from going into administration all those years ago I also have a soft spot despite not working for them¹ but as QB was one of my old depots I have that sense of connection, hence my interest as much with them as with Go Ahead. I also loved their incarnation of the 152 for the various buses chucked on the route. My only main beef with the firm was the sudden curtailments, which was then a regular theme. I don't know what it's like nowadays with the 201 on that matter as I hardly really use that route. ¹ - nor Connex and Travel London beforehand

Can't believe Abellio London is only 10 years old and has achieved so much in that time span. And in its 10th year, it seems this year has been their biggest yet in terms of volume of work heading their way in the coming months.

I'm looking forward to the 270 and I have no doubt they're aiming for a chance with the 200.

The 12 reg E400s are the worst double deckers I've driven in my life, I thought BTs Gemini 2 VHs were naff but holy moly these piles of sh*te are on another level. The more throttle you give, the slower they go. Unbelievable restrictions they've done. And not only that but alot of them have very un-ergenomic seats for drivers. On another note the E40H and smart hybrids are alright. No real restrictions on those. On flipside, I was actively hunting out 12 plates yesterday. I was trying to get them to let me take 9526 on rail replacement but there was no-one available to perform a required safety check. I had to make do with 9488 which is back from its extended stint at BC. BC had the fuel pump restriction crap flushed out of it and upped the speed limiter as the 109/407 drivers weren't having it and voted with their feet by losing mileage and going sick on duty when it turned up. But QB will almost certainly reinstate it. The 12 plates can be wicked buses. They became amazing when ADL came and installed "fuel saving" software which increased their rev limits and they were all limited to 65mph. However the company has gradually been reducing the limiters to 40 and using the software to restrict the fuel supply to their engines. Some examples of how good they can be 9541 - youtu.be/gbpHXW2wPjY9554 - youtu.be/a03qQJgKzvMFunnily enough I had 9541 a couple of evenings ago on the 207. Wish it still drove like that! Takes me back to the ADE days at BT when the vast majority did drive like that, albeit a few were restricted to 40. Was great fun *legally* taking them up to 62mph on the M1 when going dead to Watford. Most at GW are hopeless now, the only one which is still half decent and I don't think is restricted yet is 9538. But I wonder how long that will last. Lol

They have done very well indeed, but did suffer a few knocks in South London before their expansion in West. With most depots now full ( or soon to be full) I would predict a period of stability. It will now be interesting to see if they can defend what they won a few years ago in the Ealing / Greenford area. And also we’ll see how they deal wit higher staff costs with the extra work in West London, which isn’t easy to recruit and retain, especially with Heathrow Airport close by.

Three routes are now under Abellio's operation from today (routes 24, 27/N27 and 267) with LTs moved successfully to their new garages. Look out in the future to see LT24 on route 24, LT27 on route 27 and LT159 on route 159

However you can get excited about the other two workings though

This is bearing in mind that some of them already have 159 in case there's any possible lack of serviceable LTs from Monday

First turn with Abellio LTZ1157 to Edgware Road Station on route 27 The roadworks in the Bayswater area can't be helping QB, the 27 seems to be on a permanent Westbound diversion these days.

Is there still a diversion at Paddington? The route is also not doing the Hammersmith town centre loop due to roadworks!
