Routes I know 100% and can recite the stops anytime when prompted are the Newham natives (104, 241, 300, 304, 330, 376, 474), as well as the 108, 115, 238 and 325. But all that dwarfs being able to recall the 25 from Oxford Circus to Ilford! Don't think I've ever missed my stop on the 25 through my own volition, then again I've amassed weeks of my life spent on that bus route so it'd be a mighty feat to achieve if I did! I don't know every stop on the night network, but I know every 24 hour and night bus route in London so I can give a good guess to get you home. Still use that as a party trick with people. The night routes I know 100% are the N205, N550 and N551. For 24 hour routes not mentioned it probably has to be the 188 and 47 north of Lewisham.

What bus routes that you know very well as know they go or been on them a lot as here an example routes 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 13, 15, 16, 18, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 36, 38, 43, 52, 53, 65, 68, 59 when it went to Euston 70, 71 ,72, 73, 83, 86, 91, 92, 94, 95, 98, 101, 102, 105, 107, 111, 112 ,113, 115, 140, 142, 143, 159 176, 182, 183, 185, 186, 187, 188, 189, 207, 210, 211 when it use to go Waterloo, 222, 228, 232, 272, 274, 283, 240, 297, 260, 292, 302, 303, 324, 326, 328, 316, 390 414 423, 432, 436 when it use to Paddington, 460, 453, 456, 473 482, 487, 486, 607, 632, A10, C11, E5, E6, E7, H13, H17, U1, U3, N16 before renumber to N32 W3, X140 before it become super loop Withdrawn routes 10, 82 and 332 And if you could have routes out of London like 306 Watford 700 Brighton, 7, 12 and 12A 14, Brighton, Hop 12 Hop 22 Paignton, 700 Worthing, Humber flyer 3,4 9,10 Cleethorpes Well, your definition and my definition of ‘know very well’ is fundamentally different, and I think truthfully the answer to your question for me is probably ‘none’. I’ve looked at my current top ten most used routes in 2024 and came up with this : 715 : not good enough knowledge west of Ripley. 229 : don’t really know the area north of Abbey Wood Station well enough. 89 : falls over on Slade Green. K3 : great with Kingston to Esher, useless on Kingston to Roehampton Vale 281 : poor knowledge north of Twickenham and south of Surbiton 60 : not a clue north of Croydon 71 : don’t really know the route around Chessington sufficiently well 466 : not great south of Coulsdon or east of Croydon SL3 : like the 229, falls over on Thamesmead 8 : not a clue east of Liverpool Street So there you are - my answer is none! Seeing as this thread has been resurrected, my year’s top ten now contains the 65 (instead of the 8), and that route falls down on Richmond to Ham, I’d have little confidence that I’d find my way round that bit of route. So close, but my answer remains ‘none’ !

I'd like to think I know most South London routes end to end but a route like the G1 would probably catch me out.

The routes I know perfectly end to end including every single stop: 33, 337, R68
Know almost all the 281 except south of Surbiton. The 285 except the bit between Feltham and Hatton Cross (does it still serve the station stand)? The R70 except the little loop after Nurseylands serving niche roads.

I know the 285 fairly well for the bit between Heathrow Central Bus Station and Feltham Station. The 285 Feltham Station stop (both northbound and southbound) is on Hounslow Road (that's on the bridge over the railway lines). Northbound at Hatton Cross Station the 285 together with 90/423/SL7 stop at 'Stop E' on Faggs Road which is not part of Hatton Cross Station Forecourt but which is <1 minute walk to the station entrance. Stop E is also the final stop for northbound H25/H26 with both routes proceeding empty to park up on the station forecourt. Southbound all the routes mentioned pick-up pax at stops on the station forecourt.

I know 199 the most, as well as all of its stops, diversion routes and turning points. It's such an easy route and one that I would be able to drive without any learning or assistance whatsoever alongside routes 3 (back when it went to Whitehall), 15, 47, 75, 129 (in its current form), 136, 149, 171, 172, 177, 188, 225, 279, 343, 381, 453, 472, 486, C10, D7, D8, N1, N21, N171, N199, N343, N381 and N550.
I would've mentioned route 1 in the above category if it wasn't re-routed to Hampstead and which I have only done once in its new form last September.

I know all of the Brent Cross routes. All of the east london routes, all of the routes in Tottenham, Wood Green, Finsbury Park and Enfield.
The 266 for me during it's Hammersmith days was the bane of my life during 2007-2011. Near enough the majority of the time I tried to do an end to end on that route it would always stop short. I did like it's 05-reg ALX400s the interior didn't have it's traditional ALX400s feel inside it. It felt more like a Plaxton President with the rear seats downstairs and the stopping sign right at the front of the bus by the entrance doors and another one right at the back.
The 388 with it's mixing unsettled self I have been on every variation of that route. Surely that has to hold the record of the amount of times one end of the route has chopped and changed over the years from Mansion House to Blackfriars, to Embankment and then to Elephant and Castle (I actually liked that one as well) to Liverpool Street and now to London Bridge.

34, 97, 215, 275(prior to diversion) and 357 (Hoe Street/Chingford Road routes in Walthamstow)
257, W12 (old), W15 and W16 (Leytonstone/Whipps Cross area)
123, 128, 145, 150, 167, 179, 296, 366, 396, 462 (Ilford-Redbridge/Gants Hill area)
66, 175, 247, 252, 294, 365 and 375 (North Street/Collier Row routes aside from the 103/649/650 as they serve no purpose for me)
Pretty much ridden them all End-End, aside from a few routes, however I am 97% confident that if I was told to drive the routes, I would be able to do all of them aside from the W12 in Walthamstow Village, or the diverted 275 as they are far too long and indirect.
