This morning stagecoach manchester scania enviro400 MX08GJF (15454) was being demostrated to lothian buses by ADL it arrived shortly before 0630 this morning , and parked behind me . When i came in for my break i went and spoke to the salesman and he was tellng me that they are also in discussions with MAN to body their double deck chassis and that it was as good as a done deal. We were chatting about SCR v EGR and he suspects those manufacturors using adblue got their sums wrong when claiming how much more fuel efficeient this would make their vehicles, whereas MAN i particular paid close attention to detail and operators have been giving good feed back and in the particular scenarios such as interurban, rural, city work the figures quoted by them were almost down to the litre and this may be why both MAN and scania have been fairing rather well with orders recently. The vehicle itself was short wheelbase single door and sat 72 good legroom all round but like those bodied by east lancs and scania themselves these buses have a long rear overhang compared to the trident version, the cab is very roomy the scania dashboard is set quite deep in to the front but that would be my only complaint, remains to be seen who else orders these vehicles.....
