At LC, mainly in the summer (when the wathers hotter, or meant to be hotter), we're told to report buses with defective Air-Con as defective, theres even been occasions in the past where drivers have refused to take buses out because the Ari-Con doesnt work, or blows out warm air, they put it down to driver comfort, and beleive it or not Working Conditions!!! How many buses at BX are fitted with air con and how many of them work?

How many buses at BX are fitted with air con and how many of them work? I would say there's only a handful of buses without air con (the older LDP's) however likewise there's only a handful that have working air con, infact the bus I had for my first half had no air con and a heater that was on constantly (luckily I only had it for one round between 06:50 and 09:00) and yes it got put on the defect sheet, I would have chucked it back at them, but I only noticed the problem when I got to the O2 (the sun was up by then ;D) and it was a VERY quick bus ;D

The ones that don't work... did they break over time all on their own or where they disabled?

The ones that don't work... did they break over time all on their own or where they disabled? I think they are out of gas, although strangely some of them work when you start the bus up but then stop working (On the older PVL's you sometimes get a blast of cold air when you first start the bus for about 2/3 minutes even if you have the air con switched off) The newer PVL's are a female dog to get the air con working as you have to have the heating on (switched to cold) as they don't have a seperate motor, however AFAIK all the enviro's Air Con work however.

Ditto lc1's post, most of them need re-gassing, which is ususally happening by now anyway in readiness for the summer season.

The reason for the air con being set to come on for a couple of mins is because the system relies on the refridgerant for lubrication. If its not used for long periods of time, ie in the winter, the seals deteriorate and the gas is lost.

Thanks for explaining that, it also explains why the air vents have been twisted round in the PVL's so the cold air dosen't go on to the driver but on the windows

So they are actually being sorted so this summer you'll most likely have air con if you want it??
