Recommended is a visit to the Epping-Ongar operation. Free bus from Epping station Sundays (only) on the hour 1100-1500 connecting with the 1200 and hourly (on the hour) 2-car dmu from Ongar to North Weald and on to Coopersale. Bus calls at N.Weald on outward/return legs. Has been green RTL but was Imperial's RM1641 the other Sunday. Collection of static Finnish steam locos at Ongar.

Will this line ever get returned to Epping I'll quote from the Epping Ongar Railway volunteer society brochure: "We are also negotiating plans for an interchange at Epping station and the possibility of a peak time commuter service". I really hope this does come to fruition, and wish them the best of luck!

That will never happen, the line has been closed for over 12-years and the clean-up operation, let alone anything else, would cost a fortune!

The line is pretty much intact and there are no major obsticles. The main problem wil be money. It will open to Epping the if is when. WE are talking about a distance of less the 800 Metres from the current rail head to Epping Station.

Don't forget that the would paobably have to build another platform at Epping because the Central Line uses both platforms as they can have 2 trains terminating there at a time. If 1 is given to this railway, then Central Line capacity drops by 50%. Can't see that happening. - Gareth.
