I see that the DLR are reducing the platforms at Tower Gateway from 2 to 1. Why? They are always saying they are hampered with having so many trains going to Bank and Tower Gateway that they struggle for space. How does it make sense then to reduce the platforms down to 1 at TG?
I see the new platforms are being built at Stratford, they are connected to the main station concourse, and surprisingly for the DLR are behind time. I origionally thought they were going to build a bridge to connect platforms at Stratford so they could connect to the current North London Line tracks, which are forming the DLR Stratford International extension. This would have allowed trains from Poplar and Bow Church to terminate at Stratford International, but this is not going to be the case. The DLR will have 4 platforms, two terminus platforms for trains from Poplar, and the others at low-level that are currently for the North London Line to Stratford International coming from Beckton and Woolwich Arsenal, via Canning Town.
Does anyone know how many platforms are being built for the DLR at Stratford International? For me, it has to be at least 3. - Gareth.

Haven't yet seen one in service, but they've made some progress with the work around the Canning Town area. Looks like they have two extra lines from Beckton, crossing over the original Beckton line and the King George V line to Canning Town. Will be very interesting to see what they do when they get to Stratford though.
On a side note, the curtailment of the Beckton service to Canning Town is bloody brilliant for me now ;D

Finally managed to get one of the new rolling stock from Cyprus today and they are a vast improvement on the current stock. The doors have windows right down to the floor and they seem much more spacious on the inside too. Interior is brighter too and has no dirty looking cream walls like on 01-99. The units i managed to ride on today were 105 and 106

I wouldn't mind, but i had seen it about an hour and a half earlier at Canning Town on it's journey to Bank so i felt really lucky

Does anyone have a list of routes which DLR operate? It seems to be quite an extensive system, but there is no way way of working out which route goes from where to where by looking at the map. Route numbers or letters would help.

And no need for malc to try and visualize the routes, as here is the TfL map which shows them: www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/dlr-route-map.pdfThey do not carrying any different names, codes or branding though. Also, I have been on a train before that was going from Crossharbour to Gallion's Reach, even though that is not shown as a route. Presumably this only happens for trains on their way out of service, as that is where the depot is.

Thanks 'someone'! As a northener, I don't get down to London much so have to rely mainly on the net to keep up to date. At least, Liverpool Central Library gets Tramways and Light Rail magazine each month so it's available for easy reference and keeps me informed of tram developments world-wide. Can anyone tell me SENSIBLY why Britain abandoned trams in the 1950s and 1960s when the rest of Europe kept and modernised theirs?
