Hey guys, I thought as a first post I'd fill you all in on the problem we're having down here. The STA (state transit authority) purchased 300 Mercedes Benz O405NH buses in 1999. They'd have to be the worst buses on the road in terms of power although they have the best air conditioning set up and look the best - in my opinon. Earlier in the year it came to light that frame cracks had developed. That all 300 would need to have remedial work done to their frames. This was discovered after bus #1210 was sent back to Germany for examination www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26995&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=frame+cracksLate last week the steering collapsed on one bus at Ryde depot (that depot has 98 of the 300), by Monday 17 had been "stopped" then on monday night all 300 were taken off the road. Today it was revealed that 25 of the diesel versions in private fleets also have faulty steering rods Here's a link to a thread at busaustralia.com - which has links to news reports www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27696

Ouch... Mercedes aren't doing too well with their PSVs at the moment, are they? At least our Chariots of Fire appear to have solid frames
