LOW indeed I gather that the single decker pictured is of higher height than our conventional single-deckers in the UK. I reckon if a bus the height of a Dart tried to get under there it would STILL scrape the top of the bridge

a single deck crashing into a low bridge! Somebody pinch me! I can't believe what I have read in this article. The driver was using his GPS hence he missed all the signs telling him a bridge was approaching. The road also had a 5 ton limit and the bus was over that limit. He actually selected the 'bus' option in the GPS system but it didn't tell him of the bridge How can a driver be so stupid?!

Very is the answer, there is no BUTS in the 'rules of the road' (your highway code) as to ignoring road signs and going by some techno piece that you can get in argos for a few quid.
Another snap ive seen shows the entry side with a big warning triangle.

How low was that bridge, the lowest I've seen was about 9'9'' in Penge in London.
