A significant number of PD's buses are running with noisy fans.
This problem is not confined to the Stagecoach fleet and is ongoing.
I wonder what is the problem? A poorly designed fan/placement or poor maintenance? A combination of both?

Some of Merton's Es are the same, possibly in failsafe mode like what the B7TLs often did in relation to their fan clutch issues.

There was an issue with the Smart Hybrids over the summer at WH but this seems to have settled down now the warm weather has gone.

Solos seem to have had this issue even many years ago as I remember the Quality Line examples had loud fans, especially the older 52, 53 reg examples

I rode an E on the 280 during the heatwave earlier this year and the top deck was astonishingly cool. It’s certainly better listening to fans than getting roasted on a WSD.

I'm referring to the fans in the engine compartment not inside the bus. You can hear the buses from some distance away.

Not a good day for TC's DW's as DW321, running out of service on Poplar Walk, Croydon was doing a good impression of the Batmobile with flames coming out of the exhaust around 11am this morning. It was still parked up when I went back around 2pm, probably awaiting a fitter!

The car I was going to have when I grew up whilst at school. Never got one! 🙁

VW1273 was refusing to startup on the 83. Driver managed to get it working after somebody helped switch it on at engine level. Late start, but got an nice thrash ride thanks to that.
Not sure if same the bus, but overheard an driver on the 245 speaking to another colleague struggling to start an similar if not the same VW and also spotted one break down near my area. Seems reliability issues creeping up with LK62/LK12s? They are pretty rapid though.

SOE32 broken down in Purley Cross whilst out on route 455. It was stranded in the left hand lane after leaving the Purley High Street/Purley Tesco stop headed towards Old Lodge Lane. Fortunately there was no resulting traffic.

Right place? TE 937 languishing at the back of PB, minus etm and iBus. It sits next to TE 982, which is being stripped for parts.

8824 appeared to stall earlier whilst heading across the tram crossing in Gravel Hill whilst on route 130 this afternoon. Luckily it managed to get going again otherwise that could have led to a serious accident. Makes me wonder why Abellio haven't considered replacing the gearboxes on their ZF AS Tronic E200's like Go-Ahead have done.
