I believe TfL are getting 10 hybrid ones, 5 each for First and Arriva, then five additional diesel ones for First. Metroline are also due a hybrid E400 soon.

Yes john thats what I am thinking all hybrid buses are horrid looking I mean just take travel londons electrocities and LCs 57reg electocity what the ****, in the name of buses is that hidious cooling system on the roof, could they not make it more compact and less like there is a bull on top of the bus. I really hate hybrid buses and hydrogen buses, to me I cannot sit on them peacefully when I first travelled on the hydrogen buses on the RV1 and the WHYs on the 360, I was scared to death thinking what if the bus blows up or something and I have not been on one since.

I do like the HEV on the 141, even though it looks like one of the DW's off the 137, except it has a Vectra engine but the fact that these so-called Eco buses cost twice the price of a conventional one and need more maintenance, makes them a waste of time. At least the conventional DW's have a bit of go in them and don't sound like a milk float... ;D Hopefully Boris won't get too caught up in this Eco rubbish like Ken did. Still waiting to see what he does with all the Bendies, that he was allegedly going to rid London's streets of... Though I do like the new ones on the 453

Sorry to sound a bit annoying but seriously some of the things I find on this forum are plain trivial. You never judge a bus simply by its looks. Looks are no criteria determining whether a bus is good for service. Talking of looks alone, as for Omnidekka vs Olympus vs Enviro vs Gemini, I guess I'm just a bit of a technical person. The Olympus to me is badly proportioned - a weak chin and panels hastily put together, no continuity in lines and no integralism. The Omni-range to me looks far better proportioned and panels fit with each other perfectly and the lines don't just break and turn horribly. I'm not too keen on the Enviro either - viewed from certain angles some aspects look mis-proportioned. The Gemini is probably my second favourite out of the list of 4. ;D Of course this is just a matter of opinion.

In fact, heres my ratings; 1) ADL Enviro range 2) Omnidekka 3) Wright Gemini 4) Olympus However, i've always liked the ALX400. I think it's a design that won't age very quickly, like the Titan

I honestly don't know why more companies did not purchase these other than the handful for Metrobus, Blue Triangle and First London's sole one. Also, why did no one else go for the ALX400 DAF and the Pulsars other than Arriva London?

On the subject of Lolyne, I find it just about acceptable. While I would defend the quality of ELC bodies of Nottingham deckers, I'm still a bit weary of ELC judging by the standards of their factory - looks very unprofessional.

I thought Arriva's preference for DAF was something to do with them having a lot of operations in Europe or something along those lines?

Well, i had a friend come over from Germany last year and she seemed very suprised when see saw an Arriva bus!! Though, i'm not quite sure whether it was the fact it was Arriva or the fact that it was a crap DAF Arriva bus ;D BTW, i do actually like the Wright bodied DAF's. Don't know why, but they seem better
