You beat me to it - I am with you on this one if drivers turn the system off its just making a mockery of the whole system. Yes as LC1 says if there is a problem fine but not beacuse you feel like it. Lets hope that when various monitoring is carried out this is picked up and taken up with Arriva management - maybe they will be happy to only recieve part of their contracted money as they have failed to deliever a full satisfactory service ;D My opinion of being able to turn it off is quite simple - they shouldn't be able to do it. Although admittedly different we can't turn band 3 off so why have the feature on iBus to turn it off?? This system was created to make passengers journey simpler - how can that be so if drivers are turning it off.... Edited by lc1 to rectify beaver's error in quoteing

I wonder how many of them actually have permission before they turn it off?? Yes I can understand turning it off if there is a problem (Gareth's experience here is a prime example) but otherwise can it really be that bad?? Probably be pronounced "'arold 'ill bruv" so the chavs can understand it ;D and I give it 5 minutes before SOMETHING to do with ELBG's iBus is broke by the little darlings

I find something very odd and artificial about the way on the 417 she says "Saint Peter's Church". Spelling out "Saint" rather than saying "S'nt" as every does when not talking about the person himself.
Anyway, I agree with most of the above - driver's should not be allowed to turn off iBus or their mobile phone jammers.

I had my first taste of ibus yesterday, I quite enjoyed it! Must have sent around 100 messages to the passengers, just to keep them entertained ;D ;D ;D A slightly humourous account of my experiences and the failings of the system can be read on my blog: busdriver.typepad.com/

Theres another change to the 173 i-bus messages. Like the last, I think this is a good decision and should have been taken from when first introduced to DX.
The desination at Beckton now reflects the destination blind. Instead of saying: "173 . . to . . Beckton, Asda", it now says: "173 . . to . . Beckton Station". You may remember me report before that the other end of the route had changed aswell, from "173 . . to . . Goodmayes, King George Hospital", to just "173 . . to . . King George Hospital".
It must follow suggestions from passengers or standardisation between the blinds and messages? - Gareth.

Edited by lc1 to rectify beaver's error in quoteing I know of drivers who turn it off because they're given a curtailment that isn't in the system, i.e. Welling on the 486's, a turn that gets used by the 486 most days, but isn't in the ibus system!! BTW it only turns off the passenger information side, the Radio and GPS side of the system still remains active.

That's what I do, I also turn it off if it won't let me enter the curtailment (for instance when leaveing Trafalgar Square on the N89) until after you are staionary or have left the first stop.

I have now started logging occasions when i have turned ibus PA off on my log cards, i.e. i write, "Ibus PA turned off on trip ##, due to providing incorrect destination information to customers - no curtailment available to select"

Quite funny, When i was on 208 or 314 in the evening, it was turn off with two dot in the corner show. However, again traveling on 208 or 314 , all turn on all the time. I bet bus drivers being told off for being turn ibus off!
