Croydon councillor Claire Bonham has a post seeking responses to the mayor's proposal to reduce the frequency on the 410. This has been passed to our local Facebook group, and would like to add some substance to this. Given it has only just been re-awarded with the same PVR, anyone know if this is a real thing or another instance of a councillor not having the faintest Scooby's? Almost certainly the latter, looks like she's got the 410 mixed up with the 450!

Are there any websites to track route duties to see when certain vehicles will log off/their timings until then? I ask this because I often catch the 280 around 9-11pm and I wish I could see a few hours beforehand if a vehicle I want to get will be out still, such as E162 right now.

Whilst I dont know of any websites, I can tell you that E162 is scheduled to end its duty at 18:43 at the Tooting end.

The 681 had its e-tiles replaced throughout including at the Teddington School stop which is the only one unique to the route. Anyone is of course free to use it (as is the case with all 600-series school routes) if they wish to share with 50-or so generally well-behaved children. The FW341/2 school duties convert to peak-time 281s at Hounslow with the same hybrid buses running under different duty numbers often used for the night 281 service when the BCEs are on charge. In common with other locations several bus stop posters along the 281 / 681 route still show the Covid-related information about "school" and "non-school" services. It is long past time these were replaced with current information of some sort as they can cause confusion. Anyone was always able to use all buses - the "school" thing was a request for when children were travelling in large numbers but others were still asked to maintain a semblance of social distancing. The 639 and 670 also had their number stickers replaced throughout including at the school stop. As the 600-series routes serve a distinct need and those children who require them are aware of the route number I cannot see a need to clutter stops with numbered e-stickers again. In some places there were multiple routes which required split stickers or additional spaces (such as 6 instead of 3 or even a 9-tile flag) for just a single trip each school day. They remain "open-door"; school contracrs which are "closed-door" are not numbered and not always worked by TfL buses. Weird FOI answer... so TfL don't know they removed all the 6xx tiles?! (and seems somebody else was wondering about the 'school services' tiles before I was!) Question: School buses changed from 6xx to 'school buses stop here' tiles on flags, when & why did this change take place? Answer: In most cases we continue to display the individual 6xx series route numbers on the bus stop flags. However, there are some locations where we use the more generic ‘school buses’ tile. That is generally because there is not sufficient space to provide dedicated tiles for each 6xx route (and I understand this is generally used for the predominantly set-down stops). tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-3538-2324

The recent discussion about blinds has reminded me about a question I have.
Does TfL have a spec for how blinds are designed? For example if you look at a Manor Park destination on blinds from around 2018 compared to recent set you would noticed a difference in how bold the text is also also the font size. It's the same with new style number blinds which are much bolder / thicker compared to previous sets
Is there anything online?

The whole route towards West Norwood has no tiles even here at my end but they still serve stops AFAIK - first stop is Openview on Burntwood Lane

He says that no bus stops have the 6xx numbers on them and he/she are wrong. Trinity Avenue/Bush Hill Park Station (towards Edmonton) has the 617 on it. Romford Station (the one opposite the two main ones) has the 6xx services on them (can't remember which ones)

Freedom of Information has a use and a value, but this is just ridiculous. Wanting to know "... Who approved these changes to take place, who was consulted, why did they take place, and what was the cost to TfL? Please attach relevant documentation relating to the change if possible (eg presentations, meeting minutes, business case etc) ... " - seriously? It's a good job I don't work for TfL because I would tell this time-waster where to get off - and it won't have a "School Buses stop here" tile either!

I can't see that being deliberate

Agree.. all you have to do is take a look at the TfL FOI page to see that a large amount of requests they get are really unnecessary and a waste of time. In most cases to answer personal questions rather than releasing information for the wider public interest. The FOI above may get rejected on account of cost due to it being quite a broad ask anyway. We shall see.

I don't think new route-specific school route tiles will be made any more.
