Could a night route have its contract modified to have something different running it to what the day route it’s contracted to? Let’s say the 7 and N7 gets contracted to have hydrogens can the N7’s contract be changed to allow hybrids to run on instead? Sure, in principle TfL and the Operator can agree changes. An important consideration would be if a change were made such that it could impact the original tender giving a claim to unsuccessful bidders. For example say there were two bidders one for £1m and one for £1.1m. The £1m tender is accepted as they are the cheapest and then the contract is changed to be for £1.2m, in which case the company with the £1.1m bid could have a claim as they were not chosen and would have been cheaper. A change to use Hybrids instead of electric or hydrogen buses would not trigger any claim as that change would likely be available to whoever won the tender.
Yes. There must be a lot of contracts where something has changed, either in terms of line of route, frequency (and therefore vehicle / driver requirements) or vehicle type, during the course of a contract. (I think at least some routes were de-bendied without a new contract.)
I understand there's an established principle for TFL issuing a revised specification for a route, and asking the existing operator to work out the new price (up or down, depending on what's being asked for.) I don't know how much negotiation then takes place, and would have thought there's a clause that allows TFL to decide either not to proceed with the change, or seek early termination of the contract, if they really can't agree. I've not heard of this happening, though.
I suppose it's also open to operators to suggest changes, but I would not have thought that TFL would accept a change that involved moving to what's considered a lower specification without a price reduction, and again, I'm not sure this happens often.

Is there a hail and ride that is served by more than one route? There's quite a few short sections in Sutton - the 470 (will be S2) and S4 on York Road and Worcester Road, the 470 and S3 on Sutton Common Road, the 413 and S3 on Gander Green Lane and the S1 and S4 (will be S2) on Oakhill Road.

Yep, Brampton Road near Borstall Hill - what’s more interesting is out of the three standard double decker routes that have hail and ride sections, two of the routes share it with another route - 301 & B11 and U1 & U3

Sorry if this is a silly question but are 'Bus Saver Tickets' still valid? As they were withdrawn in 2008, I doubt there are many at all still around, but did they have any sort of expiration date on them? I ask because the front door of a lot of (maybe all?) NRMs still have signage relating to this ( link). I would say I get a passenger on my bus with one at least once a month. They are indeed still valid.

Help, I am getting confused about the Croydon changes this coming weekend.
The source where reading the information is LBR.
I am planning to head down that way on Saturday afternoon to test-ride the routes in their new forms.
My question is what routes am I permitted to ride? To be clear, could someone please tell me what routes will use Diesels even if short term?

To be clear, could someone please tell me what routes will use Diesels even if short term? Assuming you are only "permitted" to use diesels (what are you going to do in a few years time...), the 434, 470, S3 and S4 will definitely be using diesels. The 166 is 99% likely to be using diesels and the 312 will definitely have some diesels (new PVR higher than the number of EMCs) but may or may not fully convert back to diesel ENLs. The 439 and S2 will definitely be electrics.

The Staff Guide to Fares and Ticketing mentions that they are still available for order in bulk for groups in addition to refunds as a poster alluded to earlier. I do wonder what groups might still request them in this day and age? Event organisers for their staff? Charity groups perhaps?
Wonder if you'd have an idea from those who you see using them. I don't imagine that they are people who've been hoarding them since 2008
