Does everyone on here know how allocations work? How does one who doesn't know about allocations learn about allocations?

Where can a bus enthusiast get a hold of bus blinds? They are sometimes sold at Transport Collectors Fairs Next one is Sat 14 March at Chiswick Town Hall. 11am-3pm Chiswick often has the brand new LOTs fleetbook at the LOTs stand

Where can a bus enthusiast get a hold of bus blinds? Ask Ensignbus (via email) as some ex-London buses arrive there still with blinds. (Last time I asked, they were offering me a full VLA set from Norwood for £30 + taxes & shipping)

Where can a bus enthusiast get a hold of bus blinds? I used to buy them on Ebay now ended up with a cupboard full of them looking back was pretty pointless buying them Some pricess are pretty silly online! also seen them at garage open days again some prices are a bit steep.
I should sell them really.

I paid a high price on Ebay for one only because it was a rare one but my other blind set I have was kindly given to me for free - garage running days or even chancing your arm at a local garage might work and some sellers can be reasonable - have seen many sell anywhere between £5-£20 The one I brought for Ebay I'd like to go to a good home at a reasonable price but only if someone has the bus in question (ex Connex Euro III TA).

How are hybrids powered are they charged by electricity or powered by Diesel? Or both? When it comes to pollution are hybrids just as bad there diesel counterparts? 2 different methods, series and parallel In one the Diesel engine is connected to an alternator, which charges batteries, electric motors are used to turn the driving wheels. In the other there is electric motor also attached to gearbox and can be driven by either diesel or electric (or both) as there are computer controlled clutches determining the power source. With a hybrid, when slowing the electric motor becomes an alternator and charges the batteries. Obviously this energy recovery is lot more efficient than turning momentum energy into wasted heat (by using friction disc brakes). Actually the friction brakes are usually blended in at low speed to complete stop, as at low rotation electric braking would be vague and jerky. Therefore on a journey with little braking (like an inter-urban service), hybrid doesn’t gain much, but where there is loads of stopping, it can save about 25-30% of fuel. There is a version called a micro hybrid where the braking energy is used mainly to power auxiliaries (rather than moving it), these save about 8-10% fuel. Regarding pollution, the diesel emits same parts per million pollutants in its exhaust gas, as a full diesel, but if it is using 25% less fuel, exhaust volume is 25% lower. The new ADL buses for Ireland have plug in capability so can be charged in depot, then can run in electric mode for about 30 miles. Obviously no pollution whilst diesel is off. Not sure what percentage of electricity comes from renewables over there, but in England is about 50% fossil fuel so electric bus has half the pollution (but it is away from City centre, instead it’s wherever power station is located),

If you live outside London I was told that you cannot qualify for a freedom pass?
The disabled/elderly pass you get is only for local buses and cannot be used on any trains at all.
Such a shame that only London residents qualify. Must be very expensive

Must be very expensive If other local authorities wish their residents get the same privileges they could pay for it, but as you say, it is very expensive. There are lots on here that seem to advocate scrapping it!

Reason I asked is because my relative would like to move to Surrey but we found out that she won't get a freedom pass and it's £14 single journey ticket to Waterloo. RIP OFF

RIP OFF But her Surrey Council tax won’t include the massive TfL precept to pay for it No guarantee new mayor will continue the non-statutory freedom pass, as it’s expensive
