Regarding the 28 B7TL ALX400s at Westbourne Park, the Doncaster SQP has now formally been approved and is now in the hands of the Mayor of Doncaster, which it looks as though it will be getting the go ahead. The scheme will come into place from January 31st 2010 for all routes to be Low Floor with a minimum of Euro II. From July 2010, Euro III comes into the equation. It has been mentioned that these 28 vehicles are the intended targets and now depend on successful bidding for them against other operations, South Yorkshire should be the top priority due to them requiring Euro III vehices. Currently out of the current fleet, there is a shortfall of 24 vehicles, for Euro III work. If Euro III vehicles for example don't operate on a Euro III route, this will incur a penalty of £30 per each trip. Likewise for route branding on incorrect routes, overall wraps, no CCTV, vandalised vehicles etc. More about this can be viewed on the South Yorkshire forum, available here - www.forum.sy-transport.co.ukIt certainly sounds very interesting, but apart from these 28 B7TLs that are up for grabs in January (due to the loss of route 10), are there any more B7TLs within the First London fleet which are Euro III and could be realeased for July 2010? I ask this, because at first it was stated that between 15 and 30 Volvo B7TL Plaxton Presidents were coming to First South Yorkshire and now this has been changed to the ALX400s (no doubt because South Yorkshire is the ALX400 capital of First Group) and the Plaxton Presidents are non standard here. Yes VNZ 32495 - 32502 are Euro III Volvo B7TLs / Wright Eclipse Geminis from the 83 should be available at that time.

All B7TLs are Euro 3, there are no Euro 2 or 4 B7TLs regardless of age. The only exception may be the sole Enviro 400 B7TL for Bluestar which is an 07 reg so should fall into the Euro 4 category as Euro 4 was mandatory by then but I'm not too sure.

The early Volvo B7TLs at First South Yorkshire are only Euro II, this is the reason why 10 were shipped out of OG and can not work the North Sheffield SQP (the first SQP launched within the UK). These were 30871 - 30880.
Some of the early B7Ls at First South Yorkshire are also Euro II, rather than Euro III.
I understand that the engine is practially the same, though the emissions on the earlier versions of the B7TLs that we have at least, don't meet the Euro III requirement, hence they can't be used on Euro III routes.

Interesting to hear that, as Wright Eclipse Geminis are quite common up here (over 110 in the fleet) along with us receiving the first 18 within the First Group. It was also posted that they were to be either 02-52 registered, though this was a few months back and I'm not sure if things have changed as yet.

What age are these B7TLs because the oldest London had/have are V reg and they are Euro 3 as Volvo held back initially whilst Dennis and DAF ploughed on with their Euro 2 engines in the first LF buses.

They are W - DWX. Photo here - www.sheffieldbus.fotopic.net/p40055984.htmlThe local PTE won't allow these vehicles to be used on the SQP, due to them not meeting emission targets. These will be based in Doncaster on the secondary routes rather than the core network (Euro III routes).

Vjaska ... you are correct ... all B7TL's meet euro 3 emission standards. There never was a euro 2 B7TL

Bit strange for a company to get the info wrong about their own bus or is it?

Just what I was thinking, I asked the same question to a high member of FSY on the South Yorkshire board earlier and he also says they are Euro II. Allocators were told to keep them off North Sheffield routes as they would incur a £30 penalty if used. One of the reasons why they were shipped out from Sheffield to Doncaster and Rotherham.
Now this one has truely baffled me!

Regardless of this though, 21 Euro III vehicles are required to replace the 21 last remaining high floor vehicles at the Doncaster depot, the T - KLF Olympians from London, which are supposedly destined for further use at Devon and Cornwall.

The older Volvo B10M Olympians are euro2, but they ceased operations around S reg/1998.
