Moi? Perish the thought! ;D Hilarious! ;D NO Huh!??! As to the S Stock - Places like Baker Street and Hammersmith need a lot of work doing in order to fit them in. Plus the customers won't be happy as the new signalling system has been put back with NO delivery date now, work on the new control room at Hammersmith has been suspended! This means that they'll have these new trains with less seats - some people will be happy!

A slightly stupid question - when the sub-surface line stock is standardised, how are people going to tell between trains on different lines at a lot of stations?

A slightly stupid question - when the sub-surface line stock is standardised, how are people going to tell between trains on different lines at a lot of stations? They'll have the dot-matrix destination boxes on the exterior and interior of the train. To be honest though I think they'll STILL won't be able to tell the difference - even now with the different older trains I still see some people who can't tell which line a train is on

Some people really are stupid!

As well as all those replies above, the innovation with the S stock is that they are going to have a dual line display on the front, so it'll be able to show things like Upminster District Line Baker Street Metropolitan Line etc. plus side dot matrix displays as well, like with the D stock.

as someone said dont forget the platform board! Which is more likely (with the current equipment) to be incorrect due to a fault or because it can only be changed at a minority of locations.

As can be seen at East Ham and other various ststaions with their rather antiqueated (sp?) information board on the platforms ;D

The DMIs are not very high tech at all! The issues I mentioned are the same for both DMIs and light boxes.

Much clearer to understand (early mornings don't work for me ;D) and does give you an inclination as to how long the train will be
