One of the 14 plate Es from London (commercial department) in the workshop at Crawley today - presumably for the Euro6 mods.

E281-3 were new Euro5 rather than Euro6, can tell by the lack of extra grilles at the back - many 14 plate buses were built to Euro5 specification. I don't think any TfL buses were though beyond 63 plate.

No TfL buses beyond 63 reg were Euro V hence why I said maybe those commercial ones were dealer stock as there are 15 reg B9TL's which are Euro V as they were dealer stock sold off. The only other explanation is they were built before the switch to Euro VI.

There were loopholes, think from my hazy memory there was something called Small Type Approval, something which Optare used a lot that allowed for batches of up to 250 vehicles to be built under each approval license given. In Optares case they probably never had to reapply for any renewals! 😂🤣😅 Have recollections of snowman being knowledgeable on it ... forgotten most of the fine details myself.

I think the 3 commercial Es were done through small type approval. They aren't dealer spec ones. There was even custom built Euro5 Enviro400s for Southern Vectis on the Isle of Wight as late as 16 plate!

Streetlites 6105 and 6113 are on loan to our sister operation in Brighton for a bit, to be used on a shuttle service between Eastbourne and Denton Corner - tree issues requiring the main double deck Coaster service to be diverted.

Boggles the mind that it was registered new 4 years after Euro VI and 3 years after the first E200MMCs!

Yes, fleet no 6289, came back from repaint about a month or so ago. It looks really smart. 6287 and 6288 will also be done in time.

No plans at the present time. ah very good, i'd imagine when the time comes they'll probably be replaced by second hand enviro 200s, or perhaps a new order of single deckers to replace them in conjunction with the single decker omnicities.

Omnidekkas 6938 & 6939 have returned to service over the last few weeks, as have Omnicities 6953 & 6954 - these have mostly been fulfilling an increased requirement for double decks as town routes 4/5 have been converted to double deck.
Single deck Scanias 6513, 6551-59 are being prepared for return to service in a few weeks - 6550 returned to service yesterday on town route 1.
