The information may be helpful to tourists but are the announcements really necessary? I use a bus twice a day, 5 days a week, it costs me £500 a year and to have an announcement every 30 seconds telling me what bus I am on and where I'm going drives me mad. You must travel on the quietest bus routes in London then as between all the countless conversations, traffic noises, and everything else iBus just fades in the background noise unless I specifically listen out for it. People on their phones are far more annoying. That said, I still do not see the point of the constant "Nine Nine Nine <pause> to </pause> Police Station" announcements. Not on all buses the iBus cannot be heard by distracting sounds. If you jump on a trident or a ALX200 the iBus is sound can be heard over the noise, but with buses like Scania Omnitowns the engine is very loud. The iBus annocements cannot be heard.

Still not driven an iBus.... Should do next week so I'll let you know what I think about it from a drivers point of view.
From a passenger point of view I think its very good. Much like the system used on the fastrack buses in Dartford/Gravesend but with a few more advanced features like the driver selectable announcement. I know it can get tiresome for people who use the bus on a regular basis (ie people who use the same route between the same stops everyday) but thats not the point of it. Its to help people with disabilities and people who are not familiar with the area which is quite common in London.

Why? Well because we become acustomed to it all. Given time, iBus will just become an everyday norm that no one, apart from those who need it, really care about ;D

Which is probably why iBus has been developed to help people who are in a similar situation to yourself. I know myself, i just switch off now so much that i don't even notice when the things are playing up!! ;D

I think it's the best toy with had in ages... I dont have to remember a stop somebody wants - i-bus does it, When I curtail i'm not repeating myself to every individual - i-bus does it, when I drive past somebody flapping like mad at a closed stop everyone on board knows why cause I played the next stop closed option, I too play random announcements to help waste time so ultimately Idont sound rude when i have to raise my voice so the whole bus can here. more importantly though the code blue facility is ideal and I dont feel like reaching too the other end of the radio to choke the opperator nagging for a post code i'm not going to know as the i-bus shows them.
