Busy weekend for TfL rail replacement over Easter. Bank - Canary Wharf -> Sullivan Buses Canning Town - Barking -> Abellio London East Croydon - Birkbeck -> Stagecoach Hackney Downs - Chingford -> Abellio London Seven Sisters - Cheshunt -> Abellio London Seven Sisters - Enfield -> Abellio London Walthamstow - Barking -> Abellio London Wimbledon - Earls Court -> Abellio London Not sure what I will be doing yet - was offered a nice Lewisham to Dartford via Woolwich shift on Good Friday which I had to turn down . Still on the hunt for a job for Easter Sunday, apparently no middles or lates available and I am not missing church! Arriva London operating DL6 with help from Ensign and Metroline.

Ended up on the DL7 today, although probably safe to say after that experience I'll just stick to the non stop Canning Town to Barking one. It's actually borderline hilarious how far that service goes to avoid Stratford, it goes there but doesn't actually stop. Leading to it being indirect as well as a magnet for traffic. I know they want to stop freeloaders from getting the 238X for free, however this is doing benefits to nobody. Many people just get the standard 238 and pay the £1.50 rather than getting this service, every 238 I saw was heaving while we were carrying air. The District Line doesn't go to Stratford, so that's understandable. The current strategy serves more District Line stations than the old one did. The old route via Stratford also suffered from dire reliability problems - it wasn't uncommon for the 7-8 minute through service to have gaps of 40+ minutes, with buses piling up at Aldgate. Rounders were taking over 4 hours with trips lost, late meal reliefs being a nightmare and Whitechapel to Aldate East being timed for 2 minutes but taking 45... I hated arriving at Stratford and seeing a queue of hundreds of people snaking around the bus station...Canning Town is better equipped to handle the demand with lots of capacity along the relevant corridors. The DL7 route was disrupted by a closure of the Barking Road on Saturday which saw the 5 and 115 shoved down Plashet Grove. I was glad to be far, far away in Croydon that day! I was driving DL6 on Saturday and lots of people who wanted Upton Park, Plaistow and East Ham were getting on from Aldgate East and changing at Canning Town for DL7 but not sure how well that is publicised. If DL6 went via Stratford it would just be a free alternative to the 25!

If DL6 went via Stratford it would just be a free alternative to the 25! That's pretty much how it was used and people still demanded to be let off between stops even though the stations are only 2-3 stops apart! I never entertained this because the 25 and 205 operate a high frequency service on that corridor.

Spotted a LT broken down on the inside lane of the A13 at Prince Regent Lane Junction fully loaded with passengers! There is no hard shoulder on this section so hopefully it managed to get moving fairly quickly.
Couldn't spot fleet number.

Abellio Distict line Wimbledon service also using CT Plus, Uno and Reading Buses Interesting - three operators that all have vehicles with E400 City bodywork in their fleets. Although in my experience Reading Buses tends to use its claret and emerald liveried E400 MMCs on rail replacement.
