I was out on the White City - West Ruislip route over the weekend. Tight running times and minimal recovery on Saturday, ok on Sunday. Run by Abellio with help from CT Plus, London United and Reading Buses, including a few Newbury & District branded buses. Westbound buses on the 95 were absolutely hammered - packed to the rafters all evening! Even the odd double deckers that were out. I'll write to TfL to suggest it should see some sort of capacity enhancement on closure dates. Rail replacement buses on all three services were pretty well loaded out of White City too. Doing that route has made me really want to take a ride on the 282 in the evening - those Euro 4 TEs were shifting! It is a shame that there appears to be no sensible way to avoid low bridges around South Ruislip while still serving both that and Ruislip Gardens. I did see how busy your 8331 was on leaving White City on Sunday evening , not helped by the gap in front of your bus. The next one left like 2 minutes after Random suggestion: Change the B to miss out Ruislip Gardens, with the South Ruislip stop moved to Victoria Road (to avoid the low bridge) and then run direct to West Ruislip. Make passengers for Ruislip Gardens use the E7

Weren't Metroline also providing rail replacement buses too. I saw 18/68/19 reg VMHs on the A40 on Sunday which looked to be on rail replacement duty Metroline were doing Service C - White City to Northolt stopping at North Acton, Park Royal, Hanger Lane, Perivale and Greenford. I think there were a lot of end to end trips on that service by passengers that really should have been on the Ruislip service, which was fast between North Acton and Northolt. Not everybody really works with the idea of intermediate stops! Greenford has a lot of demand, which was only served by the stopping bus C. It would have been good to have the B there too, and I seem to recall it happening in 2016. But with the number of 9.4-9.7m E200s on it, it was probably a good idea to miss Greenford on the B.

Make passengers for Ruislip Gardens use the E7 Many years ago the service was double-deck, with a stop on West End Road for South Ruislip. This wasn't ideal because the stop was quite a long walk for people wanting the eastern side of the station (which I think is more densely populated than the western side). And one bus managed to lose its roof outside the station after the driver had taken a wrong turn.
Using Victoria Road seems a better idea (so long as no-one takes a wrong turn!) although there might be complaints from Ruislip Gardens.

Had the weekly TfL weekend works email today
Circle line On Sunday 7 July, there will be no service on the entire line. This is due to track replacement works. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes. District line On Saturday 6 July, there will be no service between Aldgate East and Barking. This is due to track replacement works. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes.
On Sunday 7 July, there will be no service between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington. This is due to track replacement works. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes. Hammersmith & City line On Saturday 6 July, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Barking. This is due to track replacement works. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes.
On Sunday 7 July, there will be no service between Moorgate and Hammersmith. This is due to track replacement works. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes. Metropolitan line On Sunday 7 July, there will be no service between Aldgate and Wembley Park. This is due to track replacement works. Please use alternative Tube and local bus routes.
5 Tube lines and all say use other tubes lines or local buses, not a single mention of rail replacement buses.
Are rail replacement buses for tube now a thing of the past of anything fairly central ?

In a word, yes - it has been this way for a few years. A few services do remain from the periphery of the Central area however - Baker Street to Wembley Park, Tower Hill to Barking, Paddington to North Acton, Kings Cross to Finchley, Euston to Golders Green (to Finchley Road) and so on. However, it's not the case for the Overground. I've found myself signing up for a shift on the utter nightmare route New Cross Gate - Dalston Junction this Sunday as there were no late shifts on offer for Clapham to Canada Water or Canning Town to Barking. I think I said I'd never drive that route again in my review of it. It has just shy of 2 hours running time end to end and it really does take that long. A rounder is even longer than on Hammersmith to Heathrow T5 believe it or not. Deptford, traffic. Surrey Quays, traffic. Rotherhithe Tunnel, traffic. Tower Bridge, traffic. Aldgate...you guessed it. Then there's the joy of going via Bethnal Green to reach Shoreditch! This is the one route where I actively promote alternative routes as passengers can spend quite a lot of their day on a rather hot bus.

Are rail replacement buses for tube now a thing of the past of anything fairly central ? The status updates page on the TfL site lists the usual replacement buses running between Tower Hill and Barking. I've noticed they sometimes leave this info out of the emails - perhaps trying to nudge people towards other services so they don't have to provide an overly frequent replacement service.
Most replacement services within zone 1 were scrapped many years ago, on the grounds that there is supposedly sufficient capacity in the network for people to use alternative routes.
The Hammersmith - Edgware Road service lost its replacement service a couple of years ago. Not sure how they got away with that one, especially as they don't even provide frequency enhancements on parallel bus routes (27, 295).

Unusually 8848 seems to be in the Canning Town to Barking. Wonder why a single decker is on this particular rail replacement?

Not sure, but E120 was sent out to do the Lewisham to Orpington via Elmstead Woods route this morning! Single deckers have also escaped onto the DL7 on previous occasions. I've even seen 8860 on the T (Barking to Walthamstow Central) on Easter Monday bank holiday.

I have no idea what a Metroline driver was thinking this morning driving the wrong way down one way Caxton Street North in Canning Town! he then made a rather dangerous left turn onto Silvertown Way mounting the kerb. He missed two No Entry Signs in Caxton street and made me wait at the lights as I couldn't move forward.
No idea how he ended up facing this direction as buses travel down this road turning right at the bottom into the closed section of road (But opened for rail replacement services) then into Peto Street North to stand.
