Evening all I know this may have been asked already but what was the reason why the 7 got newer B5LH buses in 2017? I remembered it had those smiley faced versions in 2014. I think its because for some reason the newer B5LHs failed the route test on the 17 so the 17 got older ones and the 7 got the newer ones. Oh I see. Thank you for that

That has a whiff of BS about it ... how could different style prefabricated panels means one passes and one fails.

Me thinks there was more to that than a simple failed route test.

I think your confusing the 17 with the 4 - without getting into the debate of whether it failed or not, I believe it was the 4 mentioned as failing and not the 17 and I presume that prompted the thinking of having the early versions with the older face congregating at as few garages as possible hence the 17 having them as well but that's speculation on my part.

Think its a shame that the 134s OMEs still aren't all tracking and there still seems to be reliability issues with the batch. The TT ones seem to have got off to a better start and there's been a solid 6-7 OEs working throughout the day with the 9 currently in service and the OEs don't seem to be out of service for long, a day or so I comparison to the 134s OMEs which disappear for months before reentering service and the tracking issue is still there with 1 bus still not tracking on the 134.

I’m not convinced there are huge reliability issues with the Metroline batch - I decided to search through Flickr back in October to see actually how many were missing using the date taken option on pictures and I think I ended up with just four missing. Many of the batch still don’t track for whatever reason.

Having a look this morning there are 7 OMEs out that are not tracking in addition to the 13 tracking.

The 134’s OMEs in terms of driving are a lot more fun now but yes a lot still don’t track. Its my local and the improvement since they were first introduced is visible.
But the 134 has been bunching there were 3 yesterday in each direction of Hampstead Road which is very unusual
The OMEs don’t break down as much and they are fast

Caught a 117 this afternoon from Stanies. DE1009 was the vehicle. The driver was quite funny. He announced to us assembled at Stanies Bus Station that the timetable was changing on 12th Dec. Mentioning earlier times and advising us all to check before we travel, he then mentioned the routes passing to London United.
”So from September you’ll have to put up with them grumpy drivers from London United”
he he went on to assure his punters “I’m trying to go with the route, but they might not want me, I have a habit of upsetting the management”
Well let’s hope he does transfer with his route which he clearly loves. Perhaps he would cheer up Hounslow’s grumpy drivers ( probably grumpy because so many have lost their own routes to Metroline....😂)
