Well, looks like it's not only London that's got the "Oyster" system. Plymouth Citybus are introducing a similar system onto all their services under the branding of Freedom Card. Similar restrictions to London, as in you can have PAYG or seaosn tickets, however they can only be bought on board or from the Travelshop. Also, all cards need to have a photo I.D.

It makes sense to go that way, it would make even more sense to get First to accept it as well but that's probably expecting to much.

Nottingham was the first in the country to introduce an electronic paying system. The EasyRider is now widely used, and you have the option of season tickets and stored day tickets (you can get 20 separate days for £45). You can buy and renew at the travel centre, through telephone or online.
Trent Barton are rolling out 'Mango'.
