Have you ever used the DLR when there's been an important exhibition on at the ExCel? Judging by that response, i'd say no as they normally run extra's to help cope with the extra demand placed on the line. In fact, i've known Canning Town to be shut to the DLR because of overcrowding caused by people wanting the ExCel and UEL. Also, the Beckton line can have trains running up to every 5 minutes, so a bus service every 10 minutes would be providing half the service for twice the useage, which would be stupid. Please, get your facts right before stating something on the week of the 26-29 there will be 5 DLR replacement bus serivces DLR1:Canary wharf-prince regent DLR2:Canary wharf-london city airport DLR3:Canning town-prince regent DLR4:East india-london city airport the above services at peak times(6.30-10.00,16.00-1930) will operate at a five minute frequency at all other times ten minute frequency Also DLR5: Canning town-EXCEL express on friday 29th only between 9.00 and 19.00 i hope that clears it up ;D

Judging by the fact that the DLR operates 4-car trains, buses (even artics) can still struggle.

I think the capacity of a DLR train (two vehicles so four cars) is about 550.

There's no way a bendy bus can take 200 people without even breaking H&S regulations, yet alone people's bodies. Even based on that figure, that would still leave 350 people stranded if the train was at capacity p.s, NCT, he's actually right on the fact that the DLR is technically only 2 cars, sorry mate

Ah, I was under the impression that the pedantic way of putting it would be '2 units of 2 car trains', or are these 'units' normally referred to as 'cars'?

Well, i've just checked my uni e-mails and it seems that the Docklands Campus are in talks with TfL and the DLR management about organising a replacement bus service to/from Canning Town to Cyprus. Now, i'm guessing if this happens, it'll be only for uni students, so student I.D will need to be provided for. Either way, if this happens, i'll be more than happy Just to update everyone on this, a special shuttle service is in operation for ALL UEL students between Canning Town and Cyprus. Only UEL students can use this service and will be non-stop to Cyprus. Timetable is as shown; 0750 Depart Canning Town (4 coaches) – 0810 Arrive Cyprus 0820 Depart Cyprus (4 coaches) - 0840 Arrive Canning Town 0850 Depart Canning Town (4 coaches) – 0910 Arrive Cyprus 1030 Depart Cyprus (2 coaches) – 1050 Arrive Canning Town 1100 Depart Canning Town (2 coaches) – 1120 Arrive Cyprus 1130 Depart Cyprus (2 coaches) – 1150 Arrive Canning Town 1200 Depart Canning Town (2 coaches) – 1220 Arrive Cyprus 1250 Depart Canning Town (4 coaches) – 1310 Arrive Cyprus 1320 Depart Cyprus (4 coaches) – 1340 Arrive Canning Town 1350 Depart Canning Town (4 coaches) – 1410 Arrive Cyprus 1530 Depart Cyprus (2 coaches) – 1550 Arrive Canning Town 1630 Depart Cyprus (2 coaches) – 1650 Arrive Canning Town 1730 Depart Cyprus (2 coaches) – 1750 Arrive Canning Town Now that's made things easier for me and my exam on Monday

Nope, i think they were operating yesterday as the exam period is for 2 weeks. They've stated that they won't be stopping inside the bus station either, but on the main road beside it opposite The Place, or something like that lol.

No idea as of yet, but i'll be using the service Monday so will have a good look then. From what i can see from the timetable, they've only hired out 4 coaches/buses. As i say, the service is for UEL students only, and needs a valid UEL I.D card to allow you to use the service, so i'll let you know what it was like Monday afternoon ;D
