This was news to South Western Railway! www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-60236837Indeed it is a surprise — all that’s happened since the January timetable is the restoration of a few dozen peak trains. Unless of course, the PM knows something we don’t…

Last week I tagged along to a management event to have a look around our elusive 701s. Wheelchair area: Universal Toilet (one in coach 3, and coach 8. The 5-cars have a single universal loo in coach 3): Standing area by the vestibules. Note additional info screen above the window, as with other Aventras: Small tables are at every(?) set of facing seats. One plug socket between each seat, along with a pair of USB sockets.

Last I checked, there’s about 12 left (I’ve not been monitoring fleet movements recently). They’re only diagrammed on Sheppertons, with 450/458 on remaining Windsor line services. The rest of the 707s were due to move on by August, but since the 701s have faced yet another setback, the transfers are on hold.

A few have been scrapped but given the lack of 701s, I’d say probably at least a year to enjoy/endure them. (Happy to be corrected)
