Is LDP56 the stolen Arriva bus?? Yes it is lol!! What madstuntman means guys is LDP 56 has no black skirt, it is allover red with the yel;low skirt releif stripe added. This was from its time at BE. It now looks like an arriva bus to the untrained eye. LDP 152 is still at BX and was on the 244 today, I suspect its now BX allocated anyway as its been here for the best part of a year now. In fact 56 and 152 are the only single doored LDP's left at BX now.

PVL171 seen on route 229 today with a 'head' sticker on its front centre bumper. Made me laugh when I saw it as someone from BX has obviously mutalated a Go - Ahead sticker for a laugh

Its been there over 2 months now surprised its lasted Still, bloody nice quick bus PVL171 love it PVL171 is one of my favourites, as are many of the other Voith Boxed buses at BX.I had PVL171 on the Strood - Rainham Rail job at the weekend and overtook my colleague in a 2 series on the M2 on me way back!! It was a bit sluggish uphill with a load though, the turbo didnt seem to be boosting as high as usual, maybe it was a faulty gauge tho. Oh and i did notice the 'head' on the bumper!! ;D Talking of nippy Voith Boxed buses, i had PVL 57 on the 401 earlier (BX22) and managed to get 25MPH out of it going UP, yes UP the steepest bit of Picardy Hill in belvedere! never had a PVL do more than 20 up there! In contrast I know the E's manage 30 up there with the kickdown.

I like 171, but I don't like the way it lurches when you pull away on a downhill gradient..perhaps it's just my driving style, but I don't seem to get it with any of our other buses

The most decent PVLs i've driven were 69, 77, 127 and 131 (three of which match AL's route numbers). All these buses had either swift pullaways and/or decent turbos. PVL77 actually whistled for a time, which made it feel a little like driving my much loved PDLs.

In contrast I know the E's manage 30 up there with the kickdown. From a passenger pospective, IMO, PVL171 & PVL178 are the best deckers there. I like it whenever they turn up because it is allways a very comfortable journey They are still in a suprisingly nice condition inside, I noticed the other day when I was sitting at the lower deck rear of '178 that the seat cushions are in a perfect state, with hardly any marks on the seats from where people put their feet up. IIRC both were refurbished over 2 years ago, and the seats really are so comfortable - a perfect combination. Not like the soft and squishy ones on PVL8 or the knackered ones on 370 May I just ask you BX guys a question, what bus is your favourite to drive? Is it PVL171 or 178 ;D Saw PVL267 climbing Picardy Hill this morning on the 7:34 journey, very slow must of been just about doing 15MPH, However it did have a very heavy load .

I like 171, but I don't like the way it lurches when you pull away on a downhill gradient..perhaps it's just my driving style, but I don't seem to get it with any of our other buses Think thats something to do with the Neutral bus stop facility on the earlier voith boxes, when the bus is a a stop ofr longer than a defined period of time the gearbox automatically goes into neutral. It's when it goes back into gear (i.e. when you hit the throttle) it does this, as you say lc1, its more noticable on a downhill gradient. 178 also does it, and i think i had one of the other voith boxed ones do it as well, PVL 56 or 57 think it was.
