Many months ago I jested that 358’s Irizars might need an MOT before even entering service as they have been deferred so long. Feels less like a jest now. I think the situation has become a standing joke at MB now, the 358 will be due for retender next year and the Irizars will be outdated if and when they eventually do enter service.

Was it not suggested here the new tender would not strart until the buses enter service? I get the impression it’s on some type of rolling contract until then.

That's certainly the case for the SL4 and 129 which run for seven years from the opening of Silvertown Tunnel. I don't know if the same applies to the 358 but it may do as it is a test bed route for opportunity charging.

Who is to say they are outdated? Maybe they are ahead of their time. Lighter buses with less environmentally damaging batteries will use less energy which has to be better for the world. It is after all what what the green movement is trying to promote.

If the 358 were to be lost to another operator, would the Irizars move with the route like LTs? From the interior pictures, they do seem to have been specified by TFL rather than Go Ahead. I assume no specialist infrastructure is needed at the garage, with just the pantographs at each terminus being unique from other EV routes?

Depends who funded them, if it was TfL then probably, if it was Go Ahead then they’d probably move to another route like the 227.

I can’t see opportunity charging catching on in a timeline where batteries inevitably get smaller and more efficient and is already the more established option Producing extra batteries will cause extra toxicity and pollution. Maybe as it is not in your country you are not bothered by it?

It looks like TFL have started to implement these intercoms for better communication between the driver and passengers on buses vm.tiktok.com/ZGdR1jHjb/I'm guessing it's just the LTs it's being rolled out on?

Someone in the comments said they're on SEe's and I've personally seen them being used on Metroline's BZLs and Go Ahead's Ee's if my memory serves correctly. I'd assume they're on all new buses though now there are no holes on cab doors.

I'm old enough to remember this BBC post...and the ensuing forum debate as to what constituted 'Summer' in the UK www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgxq3v3d088o

Surprisingly 262s buses do not contain LED blinds for the 69. (Unless its just LED’s malfunctioning!) untracked Ee263 on the route currently

Do you know what buses will came in for the 91 extension. Most likely is the Evosetis left at NX or Q from the 1 and 321, which will be fine for the 91 extension and the 677. The solo WHV at NX can go to Q for the 1.
