I'm with 'enviro400' on this one; I am also a fan of the DOEs for pretty much the same reasons. Have not been on a SOE yet so cannot comment on that.

I assume that must've been that particular bus vjaska, overall I have found the build quality of these buses to be very good and a definate improvement on the often poor standards that East Lancs used to have.

Are the Es and DOEs bought like the WVL/PVLs or leased like the AVL/PDLs?

Thats true enviro400 i reckon the only good ELC Blinds in London belong to the SLEs at BT, they are not fading as fast as the rest.

Actually if I remember correctly its not East Lancs (or any other bus manufacturer) who make the blinds for London's buses. I believe most of them are manufactured by McKenna Brothers. If bus blinds are fading then its not really anything to do with the build quality of the bus bodywork. The E200's over in Romford seem to have problems keeping their rear blinds to a decent standard, especially those at GY, though that just might be standards there ;D

Maybe but with the E200s I've seen in other areas the rear blinds seem fine Actually if I remember correctly its not East Lancs (or any other bus manufacturer) who make the blinds for London's buses. LDP56 R456LGH has now gained fleet numbers john678-buses.fotopic.net/p60432340.html (what it looked like before) It has 'LDP56' on the offside, and has '56' on the front, nearside and back- in the fashion that Arriva london north has theirs.

Ah, that must have been the Dart I saw at QE Hospital on the 244 a while back; I was wondering why on earth it had a red skirt and no-one had mentioned it LDP56 R456LGH has now gained fleet numbers john678-buses.fotopic.net/p60432340.html (what it looked like before) It has 'LDP56' on the offside, and has '56' on the front, nearside and back- in the fashion that Arriva london north has theirs.

Used to see it quite often out on the 347 or the 372. Come to think of it, i may have got it on the 372 once before it left. It wasn't a bad vehicle but had a slightly mildew smell to it, like most older Darts of that age do

Had a ride on BT Dart DP192 this morning. This was originally single door, converted to dual at some point.
A very professional conversion obviously, but the DDA ramp is STILL on the front door!
Frankly, the current location of the front few rows of seats is such that you couldn't get a push chair, let alone a wheel chair, down between the seat rows to the full size disability bay oposite the centre doors.
A total waste of money. No wonder they didn't bother to convert the other three!
Had a closer look at DP192 today. It DOES have a ramp at the centre doors after all, but it would appear that the one at the front is still 'in situ'. Wonder if it still works?
