It's not all that new; I think the first such installation was 2 years ago, but it was definitely a while ago. Personally it doesn't bother me and I don't really care about it but they would certainly be of use to the visually impaired or if the platform is very full (if, in both cases, the Next Train screens are hard to see). hi all what do you think of the new info thing at some Piccadilly and northern stations? eg the lady who says piccadilly line the next train to uxbridge will arrive in two minutes next station piccadilly circus.

It is ok - if a bit repetitive. The fact it announces the next station annoys me as the train then says it as well

IMO, those announcements are pretty good but it needs to be fixed at a few stations. For example, the voiceover at Hounslow West doesn't announce the exact time when a train is due, all it plays is: "Piccadilly line. The train now approaching is to X, please stand back from the platform edge". AFAIK, 5 of the 11 lines (Piccadilly, Northern, Jubilee, Victoria (Euston only) and Metropolitan (Finchley Road only)) have these voiceovers at most of their recently modernised stations.

I've not heard this system used on the Jubilee yet, though to be fair i only use it between Stratford and Canning Town and when i venture further on it, i only use it up to the stations with the barriers on the platforms

You can hear LU's (formally metronet - official documentation has now been changed to LU) equlivent at White City, not sure where else though. IMO the Tube Lines DVA is much better. I have heard it at Euston on the Northern line too, thats the furthest south on the Northern it goes AFAIK.

It's also used in a couple of stations on the Victoria and Metropolitan lines. Welcome to the forum BTW.

Thanks, Martin didn't activate my account until I started swearing on MSN ;D Not too sure why it is on the Vic, unless it was at a station managed by Tube Lines? This is the same situation at Finchley Road.

That's most likely the case as I'm sure I have heard it on the Victoria line platforms at Euston. Not too sure why it is on the Vic, unless it was at a station managed by Tube Lines? This is the same situation at Finchley Road.
