Having looked at the disabled logo on tube maps which show tube stations which have 'Step-free access from the platform to the street', i find them rather misleading. For example, at Epping Station where there is a disabled logo on maps, trains terminate on either platforms. One platform does have step free access from platform to street, but the other platform involves crossing over the line using a bridge with steps. Im pretty certain it is a similar case at Woodford. Does anyone else know of any other stations like this?
If i was disabled, or elderly i would be quite annoyed if got off at a station where it sayed there was step free access, and then finding out that only one platform has step free access.

Woodford Station does have a step free entrance/exit on both the northbound and southbound platforms. You can go between the two platforms by exiting the station and using the public subway (which is ramped) under the line to re-enter on the other platform. However the entrance/exit on the southbound platform, towards Snakes Lane East is closed after 2100 daily.
Epping does have step free access to both platforms, but is not readily obvious to those who don't know where it is located. If you go over the bridge to the far platform just as you step off the bottom step you will see a tall metal gate, this is the access point to this platform. I do not know how to get to it from the street but on the platform side there is a call button to summound help. Judging by the condition of it, it seems it hasn't been used in a while!

Forgot about that subway at woodford! I have noticed that tall metal gate at Epping, but i dont really think that is ideal. Maybe they should put extra ticket gates on that side aswell, especially as the houses on the other side have to walk a long way around to the main entrance.

The icon on line diagrams indicates is level access FROM the train/platform TO street, not necessarily vice versa.
I thought with Epping that the platform over the footbridge was only used *in normal circumstances - i.e. outside times of disruption* for about two or three trains a day in the morning rush hour, with everything else using the booking office side platform. Therefore, the icon that there is level access FROM the train/platform TO the street is perfectly accurate, as there are no scheduled arrivals that use the footbridge (and if they do the help point/gate route is available).

I believe you are incorrect, the far platform at Epping is used regulary- trains alternate between the two platforms to arrive/depart as it is quite often to see two trains in the station.

OK stand corrected, I was just going on the big notice that was in the Ticket Office at Epping last time I was there that said that there were a couple of trains which used the platform over the bridge, otherwise all trains used the platform by the ticket hall.

I always thought the majority of trains used the same platform except in the peak.
But the step free status is still valid - you can exit the station from either platform in a wheelchair.
The idea for another gateline at Epping would require not only the cost of the gateline, plus building to cover the gates, but staff. All not very likely.
