Was on the S Stock today and had 21017.. It had a few problems with the Doors and with the DVA system at Harrow-on-the-Hill. The DVA System announced it was a Circle Line train via Liverpool Street when at Harrow-on-the-Hill, then said these previous stations.. Barking, East Ham, Aldgate & Liverpool Street plus the destination of this train has changed & this train is held here due to a red signal. The one that baffled me the most was East Ham as the Circle Line goes no were near it only the Hammersmith & City Line, i'm sure this needs updated. cant be worse than this ;D youtu.be/Ct9COwWu69kI think its funny how some of those stations cannot be served by class 378's yet and some are not even served at all by london overground. would be funny to hear this again

Had a first ride on the S stock yesterday...seems to emphasise that the A stock, sad to say, is at the end of its useful life. Very comfortable, bright and airy.

I like the S Stock sometimes, I know its weird but the performance on one seems to be very inconstant in comparison to the A Stock. I think the S Stock should have kept the mainline style seating the A Stock did. I don't think the Met will ever be the same.

I think the S Stock should have kept the mainline style seating the A Stock did. I don't think the Met will ever be the same. The S stock is alot more comfortable than the 2009ts is though thankfully. Trouble is, is that when ever I board an S stock, I find that the average passenger usually prefers to sit in a transverse (forward facing seat) meaning you either have to sit on a side facing seat or walk down the length of the train if you want to sit seperately... The departure of the 'A' stock has sadly, but finally got into full swing with an 8-car train departing the system almost every week. Just under 40 8-car trains remain which should see them remaining in service until Spring next year. It is nice for the enthusiasts to see the oldest A60 (5000) still running though. Also found some photo's of A stock carriages awaiting their fate up in the Booth's scrapyard in Rotherham... www.flickr.com/photos/bengley/6201444255/in/photostream/ In one of the photos, 3159, half of the last 1967TS train in service can be seen alongside an A stock, shame!

Some how I just think that the London Underground is like a museum in a way were you have all the oldies and newbies all in one place scattered around the area.

I personally think the S stock is fantastic! Yes it'll be sad to see the A stock leave but in terms of comfort etc, the S stock is a worthy replacement. Really am looking forward to seeing them replace the D stock on the District Line ;D

To be honest, the C Stock needs to go sooner than the A Stock. I'm happy the D Stock will be the last trains to go, the last of the trains were refurbished just over two years ago. Fantastic Trains IMO. S Stock are okay, but inconsistent.

While the refurbed D-stock is indeed quite nice, I'm happy the SSLs are undergoing this transformation. Hopefully when all the S-stock trains are in place and signalling overhauled, journey times will improve drastically.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that the first C stocks will be eliminated before all the A stock has gone.

I was always under the impression that the Circle/Hammersmith & City line C stock fleet would be suplimented with new 'S' Stock trains to cope with increased amounts of passengers expected for the Olympics next year.

If I'm correct, the C Stock will start to disappear next year and the D Stock will start to go in 2013, seems like a waste of a refurbishment if the trains are going to leave so soon. The last D Stock finished refurbishment in 2008.

Or something like that anyway, so chances are the newer the refurb, the later it will be before it gets withdrawn. Even so, it still means the units have had a good 5 years MINIMUM in a refurbished state. In all honesty, they did need it too!

Thank God for that, if that is true, then its confirmation the C Stock will be the next to go ;D which I'm glad they will. To be honest, I'd love to see the D Stock stay until longer than 2017. They are really nice trains, they really did need that refurbishment to be honest.
