No difference from here ... Probably 75+% of the posts are pure speculation ... fake news rules supreme in the bus enthusiast world .... if your speculation get repeating more than twice, it has to be accepted as fact .... and whoo betide any descending voices! Take 312 tender award ... virtually every site I have seen says the retained part is the 7 X 15-reg EMCs. As far as I am aware this has not been confirmed, and will be shocked if this is the case ... OK, in preparation for being shocked! This hobby and the forum is starting to become very frustratingly unbearable. People are so arrogant about on were they get there information. I joined this forum to be with like minded people because I couldn't talk about buses anywhere else. I liked it because we talked about buses but now the hobby and this has become unbearable. I've been on this forum a long time so I've been learning thing and interacting with people on this forum for a long time. But now it's like speaking to some people is like banging my head agaisnt the wall. Most of the good people with valuable information have gone. Now most people on this forum and the hobby are just speculating. This forum is just full of arguments and people getting over each other. The hobby and the forum is not how it used be. So many people think that there speculation is right. I just don't know what to do about this hobby and forum anymore. I feel like I don't want to share bus information with like minded people. This hobby is not making me happy anymore and I just don't know what to do? How do I know the information that people tell me is 100%? I feel your pain, COBO. There is, generally, an awful lot of spurious and often rather arrogant speculation of late here, which is SO frustrating as my bus knowledge is poor compared to most of you, and it makes it really hard to know what to believe. There are still sources here that I trust - by no means an exhaustive list, but people like snowman, Londontransport3, eggmeister, beaver14uk, danorak, planesandtrains, RandomBusesGirl and others still give me reason to stick around.

Many of the above names mentioned the majority of information posted is very reliable. Even at times members have questioned information I’ve posted. Why does anyone need to be challenged? The ones who need to be challenged are the ones posting trash and information that is of no use to anyone. In addition I really like how you challenged my information on the 301 getting HVs in the Arriva London thread. So no comment when it’s happening in phases

The quality of most of the posts on this forum have really depreciated over the last year or two. Too many speculative posts about things that will never ever happen have put me off wanting to read the content on here. Totally agree with you, but when even those trusted sources make dubious statements, ie toing the company line, they need to be challenged. Dubious? So no comment when it’s happening in phases To be fair, for newcomers to the forum it's not so obvious who is 'in the know'. I've seen many posts in the past of reliable sources like yourself being questioned on the validity of the information provided typically by people who haven't been on the forum long enough to know who is who. I think I've mentioned this idea before, but it would be a good to give reliable sources some kind of special status or title (e.g. 'IRL Source' rather than 'Depot Manager' or something). If these people want to attain the title or status they should apply to be approved by a one of the forum staff. This would perhaps stop us losing people like TP446 (or VP5-something-something, I forgot his username).

I noticed today that EN25 still has a Used Tickets box by the exit. Any reason these still exist?

Just seen this about Ibus 1855hrs,
There is currently a fault with the iBus, as a result at present NMCC are unable to respond to any code red / blue calls. Drivers have been advised to call 999 for any emergency service they request.
This has been raised as a priority 1 incident (resolution time 4 hours)

A lot of drivers and union reps blame TfL or LT then for the wages as the companies had no option to pitch against each other in tenders creating a drive to the bottom as they say. A lot of drivers are complaining about this saying the way this pay is going to be handed out to new or drivers been in the companies for years is still unfair, some complaining they would be taxed heavy on it so wouldn't see that much etc. Plenty only see it as an election gimmick set up by Khan to get votes. I personally see it as an election gimmick, it doesn't address the problems of recruitment retention. A lot of those leaving is NOT about the pay. So many other things why the companies cannot retain staff. This is another attempt at Unite to get drivers on board also to do a planned upcoming strike, which would not have the affect as Union membership amongst bus drivers is lower than ever now. Labour and Momentum are keen than ever to keep Khan in there is then there is not much left for them. I don't think it is an election gimmick, simply because I can't see the wider public voting for him because of this. Something does need to be done to retain bus drivers, but I am far from convinced this is the answer. I think you need a package of measures, but that's for another post. It is such a shame to see people like londonbusboy wishing to leave the industry when initially they were so enthusiastic. Where has it all gone so wrong?
People will vote for who they want, I can't see many bus drivers changing allegiance to vote for the current Mayor in May as a result.
It is very true that the tendering system puts downward pressure on wages and costs overall. This is particularly true in the current cost conscious environment.
Trouble is driving a bus as a job has poor morale, worst for enthusiast. Imo there are a million plus things with the London bus industry and TfL are solely to blame for this. Outside of London it is a different ball game. Single line rotas, so doing the same route day in, day out - boring! Not enough weekends off, compare it to working on London Underground, poor work-life balance Too much 7 days on then 2 days off, this is not done on the Underground Basic things that TfL do not want on buses puts the drivers at conflict with passengers i.e. not having a painted line near the drivers cab clearly showing passengers where they must stand behind, having 2 open buggies max rule, clear 'no entry' stickers on exit doors; they have now done this on the 55 LT's so why not the rest of the fleet. Headway deviation, this was a pee poor system which is bound to cause conflict as it is NOT realtime and only updates in the drivers cab at each stop travelled. worst it does not show the bus behind. Pressure on drivers by controllers to deliver results, hence over regulation, due to operators see these bonus payments as the only true way to make money out of a tender. Lack of info about bus stop closures and stops hooded Far too much roadworks and temporary traffic lights Too much 20 zones and speed humps Bus lanes eradicated for cycle lanes and side roads closed off adding additional traffic on main roads. Slow buses with kickdown removed Poor maintenance standards at some garages which are on extreme cost cutting measures to save money. No cash being taken still creates arguments at those with no card etc Hardly any appraisals from employers

I'm so glad I left and now work only 4 days out of 7 with split rest days taking home the same if not more money bearing in mind I was an acting supervisor... yeah I might be doing more hours but I actually have more time off, still get 28 days holiday, driving up to 7 routes in a day and have been anywhere from Norwich to Brighton on E Rail, there is certainly variety outside of London

Does anyone know why the 234 is restricted to short DDs? I've looked at the route and there doesn't seem to be a physical restriction preventing DDs let alone longer length SDs. For a route that mostly traverses main roads, with the exception of a few, the 234 should be converted to DDs. I've also seen it get pretty busy but I'm not that familiar with the route. I’d imagine the section that goes down the back roads would be the offending part - my guess would be residential issues or possible the wide nature of deckers causing an issue. Why would the 'wide nature of deckers' be an issue? As far as I know, no London buses are narrower than 8ft, and the maximum is 8' 3". They as probably shorter than most single deckers. So it should only be the height that causes an issue. (or is it residents not wanting people to be able to see into first floor rooms)

(or is it residents not wanting people to be able to see into first floor rooms) Double deckers tend to be slightly wider than single deckers, around 10cm. Whilst I don't know about the 234, as a driver I can attest that on some roads you need every inch of clearance you can get for an easy life.

Because anyone official has left groups and wants no part of them because of people here and other groups including me. Roll back 10 yea rs and it was a great group. quote author=" COBO" source="/post/552887/thread" timestamp="1582151249"]Is it me or has this hobby become so frustrating?
