Croydon is to receive 158 smart bus stops starting in March 2022 - www.uktech.news/energy/croydon-smart-bus-shelters-20211125Something I’ve wondered but why does Croydon not use TfL shelters in many locations as well as the flag poles as a number of the flag poles they use where fitted when the street lighting upgrade happened a few years back Croydon thought the contract with JcDecaux was not providing value for money. Not seen details of this contract, so whether it provides better value for money I don't know. You would hope so, as the council is still in the local authority equivalent of administration, but given past and current performance, my hopes are not that high. When you say TfL bus shelters, you mean the ones the councils pay for? The furniture at bus stops is owned by private companies which councils pay to rent. Yes, I was shocked when I discovered this, when I discovered it was not just some crazy Croydon Council thing. Think they are looking for the advertising revenues to be positive ... be prepared for noisy adverts being played whilst waiting for a bus. I was under the impression that the majority of bus shelters in London were owned by TfL bar certain ones and the ones I mentioned in Croydon? Every stop in Lambeth is a TfL shelter AFAIK? If not, I stand corrected then Checking out you might be correct, there do appear to be some 'privately' owned bus shelters outside of Croydon but most are owned by TfL

I've noticed that London Buses now appear to be tracking on bustimes.org. I'm assuming this is because the location data from the ETMs inside each bus have been made available to the Bus Open Data Service, so buses are now trackable via two separate feeds (the other being iBus). Wow! Finally for London buses on same map! At last, but... It didn't seem right on where buses head to. And some buses still have track on at bus garages when it was mean to turn it off. Lol 😆

Isn't it late evening and early morning, so should not be needed. Tomorrow's one and also another one later are day as well, not only night I believe I was actually shocked the strike start from this morning. As I thought it would have been mainly for the evening. I was also surprised earlier there were cancellation on the circle and Hammersmith & City. There are no night tube services on these lines so why would they be striking for? From the proposals making everyone work 4 nights per years is not on. What has not been said was if they were able to swap any of these shifts to work zero per year.

It's annoying that a low frequency route can leave this early, especially when connecting from another bus Well I am sure it would be addressed at sooner as it would then end up costing them money, because it would not count. An early running bus on a low frequency route is far worse than a late running bus on the route.

Circle & H&C cancellations were not do do with strikes, they were due to "train cancellations" (Yes, that was what was written on the TfL site), presumably due to large demand on those lines delaying services

In everyone’s experience, how’s mask compliance been on buses since being made mandatory on all public transport. I’ve noticed many more people wearing them on the tube and train.

Seems to be fairly mixed where I am, leaning slightly more towards no masks but very high usage in shops. I only saw one person without a mask when I popped to the supermarket on the way home.

Because drivers and station staff are going to have time to be stopping numerous drunks who will be double out of it getting on the bus or going through barriers who are doing to say "thought it was free tonight" I think on NYE it will unofficially be free but no suprise given the circumstances that's if we aren't locked down anyway .

A similar situation happened for NYE 2015/16 when TfL had no sponsor until the 11th hour with Kayak. They announced that travel wasn't going to be free that year, found a sponsor albeit pretty late up to the festive period, and yet somehow barriers at some stations were up at 1am on New Year's. It makes you wonder how much footfall that is generally seen on that night; yes up to a million people when the fireworks on the Embankment wasn't ticketed, but potentially many tens of thousands from other events held that night as well.

The twist in the tail is, the weekend nightbus that stopped during the pandemic would make a comback for New Years eve, so routes like 145, 123, 158 etc. would have a nightbus service for this night.
