In a new FoI response, someone asked TfL for a list of Active Bus Stands that are currently not used for scheduled journeys and they responded with a list of 333 of them...
Reasons for closure include
AUDITED - STOP ABOLISHED.
TO BE WITHDRAWN - COUNCIL REBUILDING ROAD, WILL BECOME TOO NARROW FOR BUSES (24/10/06). TO BE WITHDRAWN - "SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENTS" (15/7/10). TO BE WITHDRAWN - TO BE REPLACED BY NEW DEAD STAND IN QUEENSBRIDGE ROAD (23/8/12). TO BE PERMANENTLY REMOVED FOR CYCLE E/W ROUTE SCHEME (2015). STOP REMOVED 31/01/93 WHEN OLD BUS STATION WAS CLOSED.
WITHDRAWN ON ADVICE FROM STOP NAMEING TEAM. STAND NOT USED FOR 9 YEARS AGREED WITH BUSES TO WITHDRAW.
It struck me that some of you might find it interesting.

The numpty Barney Davis that works for the Standard, used to be a reporter for Waltham Forest Guardian should know better, it is not on Selwyn Avenue. It is on Winchester Rd, and hit the shops on the Broadway.

Victim of Go Ahead's lousy performance on the 386 from Woolwich yet again this evening.
Got off a train at Woolwich Arsenal and walked up to Thomas Street to ensure a seat. Look at the iBus display and a bus is due in 10 minutes. The countdown gets to six minutes and the bus disappears.
By this time I have let 5 buses go that would have got me 1.5kms from home instead of 400m.
No sign of a following 386 so I get a bus towards Plumstead Common. I get off and start walking along Herbert Road to get home. At this point I am passed by SE152 on a short working to Blackheath Royal Standard. Not sure where this bus came from.
The 386 is a low frequency service - every 15 minutes during the day and 20 minutes evenings.
Go Ahead seem to think that it acceptable to leave people waiting up to an hour at the first 4 stops on the route by turning buses short.

Masks remain a condition of carriage on tfl, even when vehicles are almost empty. When will Khan change this to fall in line with national law? Or is he joining wee krankie in doing the opposite to Boris, simply to be contrary?

I think the mayor is right to still mandate them.

Emphasis the reasons why we should wear masks through station and bus advertising but ultimately leave it down to people to make a choice. The majority of passengers are adults and would do the right thing but like supermarkets just give them a choice to do it.

Khan isn’t the only one who who hasn’t followed the governments guidance in this respect yet every time, you single him out. Why? Also, why are so fussed by this because I’ve noticed you bring it up every time and I’m interested to know why?

G1 is actually a surprisingly decent route when it isn't wildly indirect (e.g. Streatham - Tooting, Clapham South/Wandsworth Common - Garratt Lane). The buses can get good speeds and are quite fun dipping and darting around traffic-free residential roads, I definitely found it nicer to use between Streatham and Tooting over overcrowded 57s/333s tediously stopping at every stop... are there any other good routes that are like this?

The 322 is quite nice, it also uses an indirect route (Crystal Palace- Gipsy Hill- West Norwood - Tulse Hill - Herne Hill- Brixton - Clapham North - Clapham Common) much better than the 3's LT's between Crystal Palace and Brixton

The P4 is another one where Brixton Police Station turns mess those up waiting in the town centre. Is there a higher chance of the 386 turning up at Woolwich Arsenal? If a turn is a common service recovery tactic at a particular time of day, I’d wait for it there. Sad to say I only rely on iBus when the bus is clearly on the move already - and I disregard it when there are apparent gaps in the service as more often than not the bus is actually running - found this to be an issue in the 99 in the evenings.

Because tfl is out of step with national law and National Rail, and Khan is a self publicist (ask anyone who has dealings with him professionally).
The science is not conclusive on the benefits of masks, so they should not be a condition of carriage. Enough reasons?
