I may be late on this but I noticed the lights on the upper deck of my 56 were automatically turning on and off based on how dark the surrounding area was. It was sunny in the morning commute but every time the bus was surrounded by trees or went into darkness, the lights came on and then went off again. I hope this is new otherwise I am going to question my sanity and why I have not noticed it before I believe the E40Ds allocated to the 57 may be among the oldest buses with that feature as it was introduced on ADL buses from around 09 reg, in conjunction with the newer style dash. I'm not sure about the Volvos but would be surprised if theirs don't do the same. ¹ - ADL dash design changes again with the ADL MMC introduction

Had my first trip on the 235 since it passed to RATP recently and I have to say I was APALLED by the service. The schedule seems to be ridiculously padded out, the bus I was on was crawling down the road with painfully long dwell times at stops as well as having to stop and regulate. Thankfully there was a 237 behind so I was able to bail and take that but I that doesn't take away from how shambolic the 235 was.

At least you don't have to use that service every day like I have to. One of the reasons why I wish for Metroline to retain the 237.

I know this wouldn’t achieve the same PVR saving as the proposal to withdraw the 12 but seeing as TFL see the duplication between the 12 and 148 as wasteful instead you could cut the 148 back to Elephant and leave the 12 alone. From my experience the 148 isn’t particularly well used along Walworth Road and the 36 provides faster links to Victoria, Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch from Camberwell. I think that you’ve put this in the wrong thread.

Why not scrap the 40 instead and send the 148 through to Dulwich Library and leave the northern section to the 63?

But money would be saved not having the 40 on the Clerkenwell Green section and the 63 seems the more popular route anyway.
Of course the 40 being lightly used could be due to the nature of the feeder corridor from Lordship Lane into Denmark Hill and people getting off there anyway, where punters would change for Thameslink.

It seems crazy to think until 2019 there were three routes crossing Blackfriars Bridge and two routes from Elephant-King's Cross. At the time it was proposed it was controversial but to be honest I think Blackfriars is more than adequately served by the 40 and 63 as it is, demand for the 40 isn't even that high on that section as it mainly seems to relieve the 63 from my experience.

This would create capacity problems on the Blackfriars Road corridor, while leaving surplus capacity in situ on the 12’s route north of Peckham Rye.

The 235 hasn't been doing well at all under RATP tbh, which hopefully will change once the BEs are introduced. The 111 is another example of a route that's been doing pretty poorly since it changed hands, there's been a lot of bunching since Abellio took over. If there are operational issues I really can't see a change with a new bus type. It will probably need a new schedule.

The 125 is another one that's been really bad since RATP took over. Multiple bunchings usually followed by big gaps on a daily basis.
