Folks I had a thought the other day about all four corners of London. There's a lot of routes in all of those corners that have famous bus routes for various reasons and has a lot of history behind it. I don't know if I should put it here as a general discussion or create a separate thread for this. Moderators if it does get clogged up on this thread then my apologies and could the comments be moved onto a new thread to continue it there. So I'll start with East London. The famous routes in that part of London I would say is the 8, 15, 25, 38, 5, 55 and 86. West London I would say is the 207, 9, 94, E2 and 237 South London that one I have too many routes to choose from. I.e the 36, 2, 68, 53, 12, 77, 155, 1, 47, 21, 57, North London, there's the 29, 279, 341, 43, 134, 76, 259, 210, 83, 221. Please share yours. I would say for west/south west the 414 must surely be contender, it constantly has the rumour mill working overtime!!𤣠đđ That bus has been a hot topic for a while on here

I understand space is tight at North Greenwich Bus Station, but the Northbound 108 to Stratford International and the Southbound 129 to Lewisham make no sense in sharing the same stop. It is understandable that so many people were asking if the 108 was going to Lewisham considering this is the same stop the 129 goes to Lewisham from
Does the 132 really need its own stopâŚsurely it can share stop E with the 108?

"I think if you removed every second bus stop in London youâd make buses vastly better as a mode of transport. Whatâs the point in having dedicated bus lanes if youâre stopping every two minutes to let people on and off?"

Now it's called 'X' are they still tweets? (asking for a friend) Was a deliberate word choice

Yes it definitely does. That bus stop is always overcrowded. 132 was given its own stop due to overcrowding. Overall they do not not want passengers who are using it a few stops to use it is another thing. Not fair on the passengers who wish to go much further.

But I think it's already being resolved (and sometimes, overly so). For instance, the stops on the two-way TCR are spaced out far far apart.
Looking at specific cases too might be interested (Euston Square Station Stop P for instance could be removed. The hospital is served already by UCH (stop W) at the next intersection and Euston Station by stop H at the previous intersection. Getting rid of the middle one could speed up journeys whilst keeping the walk short, and no change for those going to the hospital. (I think this oddity is a consequence of the ex-two way TCR).

The dirtiest tube station on the Underground. For me, Piccadilly Circus! Even the lights are dark with dirt. Just walk 10 to 15 paces inside that station, then blow your nose.It will be full of soot. I tend to avoid using it.

There are certainly a small number of places where maybe a stop could be removed but to suggest that removing every second stop is absolutely barmy and would just lead to people moving away from the services. Traffic lights, 20mph speed limits and congestion are the things that are slowing buses down

A tale of central London overall. Introduce cycle lanes all over (not used too well!) and buses take the hit Go on any cycling forum and the general view will be that far more cycling facilities are needed in Central London. I now work near Tottenham Court Road and use both TCR and Holborn. For the past 2 months, every single working day (and I go in all days of the week), I have seen cyclists behaving very aggressively at various times of the day. Not just 1 or 2 bad eggs but entire sets of cyclists jump through red lights, shout at pedestrians for âgetting in the wayâ (during pedestrian green phases if I may add!), showing the finger if told off etc etc. While driving I now have so many instances of cyclists jumping red lights or not following rules in general that I have stopped bothering recording dashcam footage (was a fairly regular contributor!) Please donât start defending cyclists by saying that itâs only a minority of cyclists who evade traffic rules. If you spend even a few minutes in the area you will be shocked as to how poorly behaved / aggressive the cyclists are, and they are in packs, in humongous majority amongst the cyclists So yes, the Lycra louts deserve every bit of the bad reputation they get and some more. I am quite vehemently opposed to any new cycle lanes by now

Stop E is for alighting only. In morning peaks there is often a queue of buses waiting given the volume of people getting off The 132 needs its own stop for sure. Itâs the #1 busy route in North Greenwich (I use it every day) and the crowds using it are insane; the bus gets rammed while leaving The smarter way to do the stops would have been to have 132 use stop A, then the 108 southbound/ 335/129 southbound /188 stop B, 161/180/472/486 stop C, and 108 northbound / 129 northbound (once the Silvertown tunnel opens) use stop D

The term 'lycra lout' is a bit outdated, years ago it was probably only the alpha male who would contemplate cycling in London but as it's become safer it's attracted a lot more people including females and professional people including doctors, I can't believe they go from law abiding citizens to reckless lunatics when they get on a bike. There doesn't seem to be this stigma about cycling on the continent where cycling is very popular particularly with the Tour de France currently on.
