Currently sat on an X reg Volvo ALX400 and it got me wondering, what route had the longest running contract that was allocated 2000 built buses from new? My understanding would be that the longest a contract that was started in 2000 would have ended in 2012 or 2014 with at least one or two extensions. I know the X reg DLA’s at TC lasted until 2013 but they weren’t allocated to the 60 from the start as I think Arriva won it in 2006?

Passenger surveys were being handed out on the 321 yesterday. I got one both directions of the route.

Could be wrong but I'm sure they lasted right until the route was lost to Abellio in 2012

Not quite the answer to your question, but the East Lancs Lolyne-bodies Dennis Tridents that were bought new for the 388 when it commenced in January 2003 were only replaced in 2017. Two contract terms, both extended (and CT Plus still has the route today).

Much easier to find examples of late 2001 or 2002 (EuroIII) buses that did 2 seven year contracts. The 57 is a good example, the ALX400s from 2002 survived until 2016

A contract that started in 2000 would have lasted until 2007 at the latest. To get to 2012 or 2014 it would need to have been retendered at least once (except for special cases like the RV1).
I think some of the 2000 DLAs at TC did last 12 years on the 197. The 60 was indeed won in 2006 using existing DLAs freed up by contract losses (468 I think).
Still trying to think of something built in 2000 that lasted two 7-year contract terms to 2014 - haven't found any yet.

It gained new TAs one year into its contract in 2001, and managed to be retained with the same existing vehicles twice (in 2005 and 2010), and a handful of them survived to the end of the third contract although most of them had been replaced by slightly newer examples towards the end.

The X-reg Pointer Darts on the H28 lasted the full 12 years, although they may have arrived in early 2001. The 120 had some VPs (W-reg) from 2000 to 2012, although only 7 survived beyond 2010 (when some 56-reg SPs replaced the others). Those 7 managed to make it to the end of 2013 before being replaced. What about some Metroline VPLs at EW?

What about some Metroline VPLs at EW? EW received their first VPLs in 2001. Metroline's first batch of VPLs started to arrive at the very end of 2000 and went to HT, with only one or two entering service before the end of the year. Most of the batch was later transferred to EW, so they didn't spend their entire lives allocated to one route.

It's a very valid question though, don't see any reason why it shouldn't be posted here...

Could have come across more nicely. It was a question and really doesn’t need a sour response. Oh and also yes, yes, yes and yes. I would obviously put in effort to try and get one before coming here
