Ever since the 1980-ishs any new London bus garage built/rebuilt from scratch tend to have the majority[1] of their buses parked outside roofed sheds. I take it for the most part this is down to reducing overall costs in construction and building maintenance? I often imagine what some depots would have look like had they had larger sheds over their buses.

When the c2 says withdrawn on Saturday, does that mean Saturday is the last day, or Friday is, and it won’t operate from mid night

I’ve found that if I don’t react at all to the bell ringing they get bored and give up. If it rings, I pull up at the next stop, open the doors, wait a few seconds, close the doors and off I go. I generally find the ringing stops after three or four stops. And besides, I’m getting paid for every single second in sat in that seat; if they want me to get more money by running late, so be it!

My procedure for that one is to announce there is a suspected electrical fault. I then either say I have to do a full electrical reset which takes 10 minutes or take the bus out of service. It usually doesn't take long for the perpretrator to own up so we can continue on our merry way. It's usually groups of children who will tell off their mate who did it and hopefully it teaches the lot to behave. I've only invoked this where I've had to stop at at least 2 stops where nobody has gotten off.

At EOR we do an ale festival and people inevitably drink that tad too much and become a little silly and start playing with the bell cord. A trick against this is to hold the bell push in place until the perpetrator realises it has no use to be pulling the cord. Of course this only works on crew buses with a cord.

I told them all that I knew none of them were silly or immature enough to continually ring the bell so I had to deduce there was a problem with the bells and that meant taking the bus out of service and waiting for a replacement. I barely got out the apology that they would be late getting home when the culprit actually came down to the cab to apologise! School kids being school kids though, they have very short memories. Within a week it was ding! ding! ding! all over again so I started using my other method. Seems to work for me

Seems to work for me I had the opposite of this when I was a conductor someone gave a double buzz from upstairs when I was on the platform my regular driver waved me to the front and stated we had a substandard conductor upstairs I went back and asked who pressed the buzzer no response from the dozen or so people upstairs so I kicked everyone off because if the buzzer can ring by itself the bus is not safe the best part of this was as the passengers were getting of it begins to pee with rain we ran out of service to the next stop and resumed service
