Seen today one 205 driver who should know better, travelling EB down Euston Rd with a mobile glued to his ear!!! You'd be suprised how often i see this. I've never once ever put my phone to my ear while driving a bus, I have been known to use a bluetooth headsaet once or twice but very briefly when i can't get though on radio and very rarely. Edit: I know the rules outlaw bluetooth and handsfree kits before anyone starts telling me off. But its still better than just talking on phone while driving 1 handed

Oh boy what a day ive had today, This morning I had LDP 107, got as far as the Ferrier Estate on me first rounder on the B16 when the overheating alarm goes off and the bus decided to overheat! funny thing is before i left BX it had a water top up, there was no leaks because when the engineer came out he went to top the water up and found it was still full .Got back to BX on me meal break, was speaking to a driver who said he said he had the same problem with that bus yesterday. So this afternoon on the 469, my leader gets a sub and what does he get, yep u guessed it LDP 107, gets as far as Manor Road (towards Woolwich) when one of the coolant pipes lets go spilling antifreeze all over the road, so who gets the double run to woolwich? Muggins Here . Ended up filling out 2 log cards with the amount of lost milage i had today, had about 6 seperate entries : 1. B16 Lost Ferrier Est - Kidbrooke Stn. Mechanical 2. B16 Lost Kidbrooke Stn - BX Garage. Mechanical 3. B16 Lost BX Garage - Welling Cnr. Mechanical 4. B16 Lost Kidbrooke, Ferrier Est - Kidbrooke Stn. Traffic 5. 469 Lost Q.E. Hosp - Plumstead. Traffic 6. 469 Lost Woolwich - Q.E. Hosp. Traffic (No Leader) All fun and games aye!!!

From what i know he kept his job by the skin of his teeth and was awarded a Final Written Warning, knowingly this wasn't the first time he was caught. I know LC/LG are very tough with regards to this, including Bluetooth headsets as well, which brings me on to another story, Last year one of our well established and experienced drivers was sacked for using a mobile whilst driving after a customer complained, after checking CCTV it was proven he was using the phone, he got his job back on appeal as they took his rather unblemished record into consideration, although he's now no longer a Mentor.

I often wear an earpiece when doing late's, relieves the boredom, will just have to go back to having the radio in the cab well actually it'l be my MP3 player which has a built in speaker eiter that or I'll just get a pair of them sunglasses that have a built in MP3 player As for your turns surely 1,2 & 3 are the same As for the driver with the phone he wasn't just using it as in making a call he was texting, infact he done it when he was my mentor, perhaps that's why I jst use the MP3 Player

Bloody QSI's (apologies minijay ) Think I probably got done by one at Welling Corner this afternoon although I might be able to wrangle my way out of it What happened is, as I was taking over on the road for my second half was told the Wayfarer had packed up and an engineer was going to replace it. Engineer tried a new Wayfarer and this also wouldn't work and said there wasa fault wit the base plate, as I (being a good driver ) had my E Pack (Emergency Tickets) he told me to carry on with this and they would sub the bus on my return past the Garage, consequently the only clock I had was either on the dash (which is the one I use most of the time) or my watch, bit dangerous checking this whilst going along Goes through Welling and notices the QSI punching me in (nowhere near the stop) looked at the dash clock and it said I was 2 early when I got to the stop and checked my watch this also said the same. Got to Lewisham and called up to confirm I was getting subbed and to get a time check so as I could confirm my watch and dash clock was correct turns out I'm about 30 seconds out meaning I went past the QSI 2 minutes 30 seconds early added to the fact my leader was TOLD to go past 4 minutes late and the bus behind me also went past late means I'll probably be having to go and see the OM Lets see if the Union are worth the money as there's no way I'm taking a written warning for this Sorry for the rant, just been a great first day back at work

Welling isn't a QSI point on the 89's. Even though it appears on the sat and sun duty cards!! ive got proof of this from TFL; www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/businessandpartners/buses/boroughreports/Click the index of monitoring locations tab. It should load in adobe reader (if you have it - its a PDF file). scroll down to page 12 and you'll find: Quote: Route 89, Operator: London Central, Observation Points: Bexleyheath Shopping Centre, Shooters Hill, Lewisham Bus Stn.

I have had this argument with our Controllers in the past and they have ALL told me it's wrong and it's a QSI point at ALL times. We shall see. Edit: Also that list is out of date as it is only dated to 31/03/07. I shall find out for sure as I'll collar Wendy next time I see her ;D

yea but the QSI points dont change per quarter etc. They only change if the conrtact is renwed like in the case of the 486 where Q.E. Hospital is now a QSI point for them whereas previously it wasn't.

Yes but that list is more than a little out of date, it still has the B15 as London Central Also on that list it says the 229 QSI point in Thamesmead is the Town Centre yet ALL the duty cards say Boiler House (I think that is a mistake as I have never seen a QSI at the Boiler house) and according to that list Orpington is a QSI point on the 469 ;D Anyway back to my problem Wayfarer, now it was pretty obvious I didn't have a ticket machine and I was telling everyone with an Oyster that it wasn't working yet they still stood there banging the reader and then saying oh it isn't working Reckon I have two complaints coming in aswell. 1) Refused someone travel with a Petrol can outside the Shell garage in Shooters Hill Road, probably didn't help when he asked how he would get the Petrol home I told him to walk. 2) Dopey tart rang the bell as I was alongside the Stop halfway up Shooters Hill, then moaned when I wouldn't let her off until I got to the top of the Hill, again probably didn't help as I told her she should be grateful as at least it wasn't the other way round and she had to walk back up the Hill ;D ;D Anyway the good news, if I get called into see the OM in the next week, it'll be the catcat from PM/SW not sure which garage he comes from as George is of

The best QSI was at T SQ today whilst buses were diverted for various rallies - although I gather he shouldn't have been there Bloody QSI's (apologies minijay ) Think I probably got done by one at Welling Corner this afternoon although I might be able to wrangle my way out of it What happened is, as I was taking over on the road for my second half was told the Wayfarer had packed up and an engineer was going to replace it. Perol cans arent allowed on buses by law. 2. Customers should ring the bell in good time for the bus to stop safely, unless the stop is a compulsory stop then buses are obliged to stop bell rung or not. Buses should only stop in desiganted areas or where safe to do so. p.s. how do you know G****e is off? you banging his missus or something? ;D
