Guys and Gals, Unexpected Surprise for myself but from Monday, I am back on buses with this baby company (well compared to others). It feels pretty weird as I'd never thought I would of joined buses ever again after Stagecoach (T) in January 2015. My initial plan was to join Arriva but it just worked out better to start with CT Plus. I am well excited Just as I might see Lwldriver on an Abellio bus, I might see you on a CT Plus bus on November 25th! I am due to ride route 26 or 388 (more likely the latter) and route 394 then. Oh thats great are you coming down East London. Hopefully I'll be working that day. Make sure you snap some photos. I wonder how long it'll take to jump on rota.

Well thats a shame you joined the wrong company but welcome back to the industry. If your at HK you will probably meet two of my friends Donald and Micheal. Oh thanks Volvo, I will be at HK. What routes are your friends on? I also saw a couple of drivers from Stagecoach. Micheal does the 153s and 394s and Donald 26 & 388

Just as I would have done with Abellio for Lwldriver, I can tell you which vehicle I boarded where and at what time, and then you will know whether we "met" then!

2 of the W19's E20Ds were on the W11 on Thursday for some reason. Much nicer to ride on than the MMCs.
There are works going on at Sainsburys Crooked Billet meaning the 397's stand is blocked as is the entry from Walthamstow Avenue. Buses now come in via the car route and through the car park. The 385 and 397 stand alongside the work enclosure.
DAS1 is also back on the 385 now. I assume it was "'it wiv a hammmer" at Ash Grove.

I asked at Crooked Billet Sainsburys this week as to what all the roadworks were about. Apparently part of the car park is being redesigned to provide respositioned stands and stops for TfL buses. This will most likely mean a more awkward, wetter and longer walk for bus passengers to / from the store entrance. The current arrangement may not be perfect - largely because cars park where the buses stop - but it is convenient, under cover and people can dash from the store to the bus pretty quickly. In future they're more likely to miss a bus. Yet another "improvement" - NOT! A less used part of the car park has been blocked off with large concrete blocks to stop travellers caravans from taking up residence.

I wonder if a disabled group has been voicing concerns about non level access between the pavement outside the store and the car park? If that is correct, then even that could of been achieved by keeping the bus stops in the current position and raising the pavement - as you say, it's oodles more convenient currently than what it will become.

If that is correct, then even that could of been achieved by keeping the bus stops in the current position and raising the pavement - as you say, it's oodles more convenient currently than what it will become. It may not have been raised directly but the "95% of stops accessible" programme is probably the reason for the change. To be honest I've never seen anyone in a wheelchair board or alight at Sainsburys but I only see a tiny fraction of the activity there. Most less ambulent shoppers use minicabs or Dial a Ride. One frail lady gets a personal accompaniment from the driver of the 385 on and off the bus! If vehicle suspensions are badly adjusted or drivers don't lower the bus then yes it can be awkward for people getting on and off buses there. I've certainly helped people with shopping bags and trolleys or just given them a hand. Unfortunately there is really no kerb line at all at Sainsburys - the store floor is flush with the road so creating a kerb would require a raised paving area in front of the store which may cause other issues.

I rode DA11 on route 153 and 1277 on route 394 today. i boarded both by Sainsbury's at Islington, at around 8.50am and 3pm respectively.

Just to add to the "new stop at Sainsburys" saga a shelter has now appeared. It is located down near the Holiday Inn Express (former dairy) building. It also faces to the south and has space for about 3 people. Given there are often 6-10 people waiting at the present stops this means people not only have to walk half way to the Billet Roundabout but face being frozen and soaked in the process. The shelter is on a raised plinth so there is a kerb. Oddly though the walkway from the store has vertical bollards on both sides but is no wider than a wheelchair width. If there is ever someone with a pram or a wheelchair no one will be able to get past nor can they dodge to the left or right if they are encumbered - there's not enough space between the bollards. The final design may be slightly different but this looks like the worst designed, worst located bus stop I've seen in a long time. I think I will be writing extremely angry letters to TfL and Sainsburys over this travesty not the mention the woeful service on the W11 I've experienced since the frequency cut. I've had 2 20+ min waits for buses because the same driver decides to run 7-8 mins late. Useless.

This company is certainly getting bigger. So we will see 3 Night routes at Trafalgar Square next year from us N26, N550 & N551. I think the N550/1 duties will start with a 388.

Tender award states ** Night only route using buses from route 388 so pretty sure it will be crosslinked. Do you work for CT plus now? you probably know more..........
