OK guys (and gals??). I have a Computer related question.
Recently my iMac has been giving me grief when displaying colour. It doesn't happen all the time but there is a vast amount of red "noise" on different areas of the screen. Most noticeable on images/videos with a lot of black - the black areas will show up as red.
I've already had a new LCD and am wondering if it may be a sign the graphics are on the way out. Any of the techy guys on here able to shed any light??
I'm running a late 2009 21.5 inch iMac

Good idea though.

It'll most likely be a hardware problem - it's all under warranty and you're covered by sale of goods act past warranty.
Give Apple a shout directly and they'll be the best help.

It looks like your video card is on lts way out - definately your monitor connection has failed on your internal system board... You may have to see an Apple 'Genius' down at the store - I imagine Lakeside is your nearest one, (West Thurrock Way Grays, Essex, RM20 2ZP ), They might make you try and return on another day. I just don't like having to make an appointment - this is not the GP's surgery They should just swap it over if you turn up with it. I always ask to speak to an adult in these kind of stores ;D I got them to replace my iPhone 3GS after it started shutting down during calls, and that was while you wait. I assume your iMac is still under warranty - if not it could get pricey Shops like PC World and Apple, similar to BMW garages, smell money soon as something falls out of warranty, as I found out this weekend

I've been doing some looking around trying to get an idea of price and I fear you may be right. It's not helped by the fact that it's all integrated graphics too which will mean a new (what they call) logic board in the process I've got my long weekend this weekend so will probably head down there Thursday morning. Thanks though

Rather than start a new thread, I'll ask my question here. I'm trying to print a word document which is basically a calendar off the templates with items entered into the dates (yes it is my work diary ;D) now I done the document on my laptop and emailed it to myself so I can print it off my desktop (some reason my wireless connection on my printer keeps failing so it's easier to print off the desktop) however when I print it out the info I have entered is not coming out, despite being in the print preview screen Any ideas? Think my inks might have dried up, could it be that?

Highlight it then when you press file then print select "selection" in the print window, see if that works

Try switching it off at the wall when you aren't using it. Might prolong it's life a little

Just thought I'd update this one a little. Spoke to the Apple Store in Lakeside and here's what they're up to: We couldn't get the iMac to recreate the problem I'm having at the Genius bar. Annoyingly it made me look a right fool by not doing what I told them it was doing. Either way. What they said was that they'd "triage" it meaning that they will run it at maximum capacity and really push the hardware but have it connected to a diagnostic machine at the same time (starting to sound like owning a BMW!!!!) which will highlight any problems. From what I was telling them they also say the graphics card is on it's way out - which would be OK if it wasn't integrated . New logic board it is then. And the bonus of it all is that because I've been in twice with the same problem THEY are footing the bill. All £463 of it They've said they'll call me to let me know what's happening so I'll keep this updated.

Update 2:
Having now got it back the problem is (in my opinion anyway!) worse. It's now had an LCD and a new Logic Board (and ultimately graphics card) but still I'm getting the same problem. I have attached a video here for reference:

Update 3:
Ok the last one wasn't accurate. Turn out they tested the machine and found "nothing wrong with it" so didn't replace the logic board after all. Needless to say there was an they are now! Should get it back in a few days.
