Not impressed if being honest, much prefer the original LT seating! Actually would have liked to have seen it rolled out as standard on all buses. I prefer the TFL moquette used by HCT and Sullivan, and think this could work well for LT refurbishments. I assume that was what was originally on these buses and is already used on the LTs?

Refurb looks hideous. A shame VHR's, good newish buses, being used on school services. Also confused why would bother refurbing given that it will only ever work the 698.

No, they are two different moquettes. The one I was referring to was originally introduced for the Enviro400City, and a few smaller operators have since adopted it for all vehicle types.

Yes the Enviro400 City was originally intended as a product for the London market and took its styling cues from the LT, hence the TfL moquette in the early hybrid examples ordered by Arriva and HCT Group/CT Plus. It's ironic that London operators chose to stick by and large to the MMC* whilst the City caught on outside London. * at least until contracts started being awarded for electric buses, which ADL only bodies with the City.

A VHR has been refurbished with the RATP seating moquette. I did mention before that I was told the The VHRs were getting refurbed.

The VHR’s aren’t new and I don’t understand the issue with them being used for school work. All contracts involving existing vehicles generally require a refurb regardless of what sort of route they are.

Can understand why they are working the 698 given they slot into the PVR rather nicely, however they deserve to be doing more substantial work. I guess they could work the H12 being the only other DD route at CP, but I find that very unlikely. Frustrating RATP were awarded another contract on the 698 because once that contract runs out they will probably have to stand down.

I don’t understand this notion of why they must do more substantial work - they aren’t going to stick rigidly to the 698 if it does eventually move into SO and even if it doesn’t, it’s not a big deal. I don’t understand why they’ll have to stand down after this contract?

It does seem rather wasteful to be using 4/5 year old hybrids on a school service.

I don’t understand why they’ll have to stand down after this contract? It's a personal opinion of mine. They're interesting types and I'd rather they be more accessible to enthusiasts like myself. But I also understand the logistical reasons behind the move and that's obviously more important than enthusiasts. Not entirely sure how school contracts work but if it's given an extension the contract will be out in 2028, meaning those buses will be nearly 12 years old. Who knows what will happen to them in that time.

No more wasteful than the recently awarded GAL contracts for routes 649,650 and 651 where these buses very rarely even get used on normal services outside of school times. School routes are even being awarded with electric buses (Uno) the 616 at HCT bus this is slightly different as its planned long term for those buses to be used on the 20.
I suspect the ex Tower Transit DH's will turn up with a operator to be used on school routes.

I have only just realised that the last two EB based TfL routes were also the first two all the way back in 1997. Still sad to see it closing after all these years.
