Really? There have been a lot of fires on modern (ie low floor) buses and thats a fact If you've got some compelling evidence to convince me otherwise, I'd like to see it! Evidence? How many Titans Metrobuses Olympians RM/RT went up in flames? Very few.

I remember answering a query when the Bendys were going up in flames, there was an early RT in the Cromwell Road in the early 50's, an RM at Marble Arch in the 60's, various RMs at PM which was down to vandals, as was an RTL at WL, and some RTs at AP It's becoming such a common place thing now, it doesn't even make the TV news or the national press. I remember when the XA/XFs came out an old driver told me tat with the engine beside him he could hear and smell if anything was going wrong. Will be interested to know what caused this fire on the 248

Will be interested to know what caused this fire on the 248 A number of DMSs had engine/other mechanical fires whilst with LT. Probably the most notorious was DMS1248 on route 280, but there were others too.

A Titan burnt out whilst climbing Westerham Hill on the 320 and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the only one either as well.

I dont agree with the comment about the sheer amount of low floor buses catching fire compared to older buses. All bus fires vary it can be down to a number of things bad engineering/ a fault by the manufacturer / arson/ faulty wiring etc etc.
Times have changed members of the public are different compared to many years ago where people wouldnt really set a bus on fire for a laugh.
EDIT: Vjaska that Titan on Westerham hill blew its gearbox, i did hear but not sure if its a rumour that the driver of the Titan wasnt happy because he wanted a brand new VA. He was going down the hill and i think shoved it into a low gear

Yeah plus you can see they have started robbing parts like the n/s front headlights.
Does anyone know if it was arson/ engine fire/ electrical?

I see the side blind box is completely unscathed. And people say LED blinds are the future...

Times have changed members of the public are different compared to many years ago where people wouldnt really set a bus on fire for a laugh. Sadly, it's been going on for a while. It's the reason why RM1368 is a single decker, and that arson attack occurred at the end of 1973...

Very sad sight, Even though it is a Omnicity! That photo does show how plasticy they are though. And the back looks as though its collapsed down I wonder if you could convert it to a open-top single decker and use it on the 25? (Is it just me that's amazed at how small the lifts are that are used for lfting up Buses? ) [Edit:] re about the low floor buses catching fire more often...I think its more of a case that with all the social sites like Twitter & Facebook and with nearly everyone having a camera on there phone we hear a lot more about things like this

Should the chassis be in fair shape there is nothing to stop it being rebodied. Down my way Stagecoach have got Scania powered Enviro deckers so no reason it couldn't be cascaded to the provinces in its' new guise.
