Some S7 Stock with an extra carriage are being used on the MET line currently as quite a few of S8 Stock are going off for repairs (testament to Bombardier's build quality). They do not feature the transverse seating the S8 have but have more standing space. So they are being limited on the Amersham and Chesham lines, although one did make it up to Amersham yesterday. They will be mainly used on the Watford and Uxbridge branches.

Electrostars are fantastic trains, I'll hear nothing said against Bombardier! Plus their trains aren't just good, they make a decent ale ;D

I know the jerking is due to the fact, the Voltage on the line still needs to be raised to 750V as opposed to 630 but its still not nice. But the ultimate electrics are the Desiros ;D Sublime quality.

I believe its about 37 out of 58 of them that will be returned to Bombardier over the course of a year. I think they are to be rewired and a few other mods taken place. You have to wonder whether TfL put pressure on Bombardier to get the S8's rolled out on the Met before the Olympics, in fear that they would be found to operate 50 yr old tube stock! Except it was 50 yr old stock that had no major issues except requiring a cosmetic tidy up, seeing as they had let them get run down.
I can't see this S stock lasting half as long as the mighty A stock!

If Bombardier are paying to take the trains to Derby themselves, fix the fault and return them at no cost, its no big deal... Every new thing made can have problems... I remember HP having a nightmare recalling most of their Evo D510 desktops due to cheap capacitors that failed in the early models... and don't get me started on nearly every new Toyota model that's had a major recall to do with brakes/starter/engine

I've never been on a bad Bombardier train, to be honest. Everyone has the occasional trouble, you can't the company by one issue. Siemens do appear to make quite good trains - but compare the number of Bombardier-built trains in the UK and the number of Siemens-built trains. Any major manufacturer these days is bound to make at least one major blunder - consider Volvo with the fan problem on the B7TL, etc.

Well to my knowledge they are restricted because of signalling constraints. Once resignalling is completed they'll be automatic like the Jubilee line.

Just imagine the S stock being as nippy as the 2009 tube stock.

TBH I don't get why people call A stock slow off the mark. They're not really IMO. They're built for fast speeds, not acceleration unlike S8s which are Built for quick acceleration. They were pretty fast off the mark and as it was 1960/1950 technology, you'd expect em to be slow
Only one thing I have to say about S8s: I HATE THEM. Plastic creaky junk that just don't feel like the A stock. Without the A stock, the met just doesn't feel the same anymore. The seats area awful for long journeys. Got on a S8 from Baker Street to Chalfont & Latimer and towards the end, I had to stand up as it was uncomfortable. The S7s I do like as they are good for short journeys. You have a higher chance of getting a seat and finding one out of rush hour unlike on the C Stock where most of the time there were no sts. I don't want the D stock to go as they are nice trains and sound good as well.
Also the S7+1s are 21319/320 with extra car 25382, 21323/324 with extra car 25384 and 21327/328 with extra car 25386
