first of all sorry if this is the wrong place as im not sure where to post things about the dlr An elderly man had a very lucky escape after driving his motorised scooter off the platform and onto the tracks of the Docklands Light Railway. The man was waiting for a train at West Ham station in east London when he seemingly drove his buggy onto the tracks as a train was approaching travel.aol.co.uk/2012/12/11/elderly-man-lucky-escape-electric-buggy-on-dlr-tracks/thank god he is ok

and this give second thoughts to people who want to have driverless train on the Underground. And the DLR is driverless ... so this supports it even more

I pressume a passenger on the platform pressed the red 'Emergency Stop' button which sends a mayday back to the control centre at Poplar, who then dealt with the case. The only option could be the PSA was sitting at the front of the train which usually happens prior to the train arriving at and departing from its terminus.
I for one, disagree with the proposal's for ATO, due to the fact that the manual operations provides the well trained drivers full responsibility, also the backlash if all the Train Ops lost their jobs in the near future would be mental, as many would agree it's somewhat difficult to fulfil a vacancy at present. The ATO job carried out on the Jubliee Line had soo many problems and so many things could potentially go wrong, although I know they have start of the art equipment.
On 7/7, it was down to all the drivers rapid response to evacuate their trains and assist those who where injured when the medical staff where in attendance.
Nontheless, I am glad to hear that the man's injuries where not fatal and i hope he makes a swift recovery.

It's been in Europe since 1963 and the Victoria Line has been ATO since it opened. If there was big safety concerns, why has the Victoria Line operated with it from 1968 to the present day and had it updated with the current trains. How many times do you see the PSA's strike on the DLR - put simply, lets get rid of the greedy tube drivers who make every passengers life a misery with their annual strikes.
